I'm bored, I'm back, AMA

Has your work history made you niggardly?

Have you ever been to Niger?

Are you a fan of Nike and their business practices?

Do you prefer nickel–metal hydride batteries or nickel–hydrogen batteries?

Do you have any niggling doubts about coming back?

Have you ever considered a career as a sail rigger?

I'm sorry, I couldn't resist. There's a new rating I'm collecting :p

Welcome back, what made you decide to come back?

Approximately what percentage of what you say is for the point of getting a rise out of people?
I believe 100% of what I say on here, maybe 99.9%. Sometimes I phrase it in an aggressive / confrontational way to get a rise out of people, but I never just fabricate a position/idea because it's outlandish.

Why do you go out of your way to piss people off? Do you dislike them? If you don't dislike them, then what's the point?

I seriously don't understand trolling. Oh, I've done it a time or two, but never on a consistent scale.

Most of the time if it's about politics stuff, it's just trying to shock a conversation to make people change how they think. The same thing as like protesting I guess. Movie stuff it's just more being shitty and argumentative I think. Sports stuff is just... I dunno, sports is so stupid and meaningless that it's theater of the absurd to me to get all mad about it.

also a lot of what y'all think is "trolling" is just me stating my opinions that are very different from the majority here

I will say, that despite your confrontational attitude, you have caused me to think a lot more about certain things. I wasn't the full blown Nazi you used to be, but I was definitely more along the line of "its not racist if there are statistics to back it up" and a lot of what you've said in the past got me to rethink that. So I guess despite how you can be, I do appreciate your impact on me being a better person.

Your opinions aren't that different from the majority here, though. Heck, over 50% of us ended up with Bernie Sanders on that poll about "where do you stand?" as politics go. Going in as aggressively as you do scares away any moderates leaning your way, though. I have friends who are literally in the communist party who're less confrontational and pushing about some issues than you are. The way you present some issues - and the way you attack people who don't agree 100% - has made me argue against you, in favor of right-wing ideas I absolutely hate myself. I'd say your actions have done more to push me to the right than to the left. Contrast-and-compare Krisken or DarkAudit who can sometimes persuade me.

Have you ever read Agatha Christie's novel And Then There Were None?

How about Joseph Conrad's novel The Children of the Sea: A Tale of the Forecastle?

Is this asking my favorite smell? I'm not sure. I like pizza a lot. I also weirdly like the smell of gasoline and it's really strong.
Favorite? Not necessarily. I meant for you, is there any sort of smell that'll completely take over your mind? A smell that's the equivalent of getting uppercutted by Mike Tyson, or being hit by lightning, or just anything that you CAN. NOT. IGNORE?

That would be the smell of napalm. Why didn't you give that answer originally, Chuck?

Neither, I am woefully underread. I'm a big fan of Conrad's Heart of Darkness, though[DOUBLEPOST=1446536423,1446536361][/DOUBLEPOST]

Anytime there's burnt popcorn within a city block of me, I unsheath my katana, and go out into the night to free some blood from[DOUBLEPOST=1446536465][/DOUBLEPOST]

Because I suck, and I don't think I've seen Apocalypse Now since when I changed my name to this one, which is far too long[DOUBLEPOST=1446536533][/DOUBLEPOST]
Notice you are a fan of the Nashville Predators, are you a poofter?
I do not really appreciate gay slurs[DOUBLEPOST=1446536736][/DOUBLEPOST]
See any good movies lately?
good movies I saw for the first time semi-recently:

Under The Skin might be the greatest movie of all time? It's the first movie that really evoked 2001 A Space Odyssey, and made me honestly compare the two.

The Ring - I should have seen this way sooner. I loved it so much. Also I thought Naomi Watts was Nicole Kidman until the ending credits rolled for some reason

Witness - This is a great cops and criminals type old school thriller. Harrison Ford is a huge goddamn movie star. He's such a great presence even when he's not Han Solo or Indiana Jones. Also, a pretty remarkable tight script.

I also rewatched Halloween and Back to the Future recently on the appropriate days, two old favorites.

So there really is zero point in trying to have a conversation with you, because you were never interested in having one. Every time anyone on here has tried for discourse, it's been a waste of time and effort.

I guess at least now it's officially confirmed. This thread has been pretty helpful.

I may have missed it from the movie thread, but what did you think of the most recent Mad Max?

I've always really liked your movie insights, even when I didn't agree with them (ex., your weird love of Bayformers), and I'm really curious to know what you thought of Fury Road, both within the constraints of the movie itself and also the greater social context around its depiction of women and the backlash and counter-backlash around that.

I really liked it, maybe not to the huge extent of some, at least in my circle, but it was really good. Also for the record, I only liked TF3 and 4, I still think 1/2 are irredeemable garbage. But I digress. I've mostly forgotten the hot take / thinkpieces about it, but I think the movie is more clever than it seems on the surface. And anything that even barely pushes the gender barriers is a good thing.[DOUBLEPOST=1446666878,1446666372][/DOUBLEPOST]
If you could insta-pass one US constitutional amendment what would it be?
that's a hard one.

how about a mandate that military spending could never exceed the amount of a fully refundable tax credit divided equally between everyone residing in the United States?
