"Remember when we made Doom 4, and it was slow and awkward and lost all of the fast, frenetic feeling of the original that everyone loved? Well here's more of that!"Holy shit that MP gameplay footage that came out today for Doom was baaad.

It's like an open beta weekend, except it happens after the game is already out.A....ren....tal?
It's like what Jay does, except I still pay a small amount of legal tender.A....ren....tal?
Peter Dinklage has been offered another job in the gaming industry? The announcer doesn't fit at all, either. Feels like some boring AI .
Yeah, I tried in in beta, and while I thought it had a neat idea or two... it didn't get any hooks in me.WildStar developer Carbine Studios announces layoffs.
Conceptually, I like WildStar... just not enough to pay for it. And that's sort of why it's failing right now.
I'm personally starting to wonder if the MMO genre has just had its day and is winding down. There might never be a "wowkiller" because people aren't as interested in that genre as they used to be. I know I, for one, have come to prefer smaller, more story driven multiplayer experiences with people I know to being one of ten thousand random douchenozzle "chosen ones" pinballing around in medieval disneyland waiting for my turn to ride Pirates of the NamedMobSpawnCamp. You know, that's a perfectly good reason for a game to fail: that it's okay, but not worth what's being asked to play it. Possibly going F2P would help it, maybe not. But the fact is, not every game is worth spending money on, especially when there's an amplitude of choices but a limit on money and time.
Pssh. I'll toss a bikini top over my t-shirt for $30k. It's a strange request, but I guess it's like wearing a tie.Craigslist ad wants job seekers to be comfortable wearing a bikini top.
For $30,000 a year? Hell, I'd be willing to live stream my video gaming while wearing a bikini.
Exactly.
Well, somebody has to P even if it's F. Apparently not enough did.[DOUBLEPOST=1457732484,1457732417][/DOUBLEPOST]You guys know WildStar went f2p like 4 months ago, right? They tried it and it still didn't help.
Exactly.
I'm pretty sure any attempt I'd make at being intentionally "sexy" would turn out Liz Lemon-esque. And I'm okay with that.
Get that money ready.
I think the issue stemmed from people not playing/paying much before the change, either. Some games that use the cash shops/ingame-money-for-gametime thing have been doing well (WoW, obviously, but also Blade and Soul), but if you're already hemorrhaging money, employees and sub numbers even a f2p model can't save you forever. Hell, people still pay for EverQuest xpacs year after year, even though it's f2p, but WS just didn't have the installed base to handle a new payment model.Well, somebody has to P even if it's F. Apparently not enough did.
Pretty much saw this was coming since SOE broke away and became Daybreak.Speaking of EQ, EQNext is officially cancelled.
Oh hey, yet another group of people that get to learn what the Streisand Effect is.Digital Homicide is suing Jim Sterling. Well, they're asking people to fund the lawsuit.
This is largely a reaction to Jim's latest video covering DH's Greenlight trailer for Wyatt Derp.
And Wyatt Derp 2, which launched on Greenlight the same day.
Along with SIXTEEN OTHER GAMES IN TOTAL.
Yeah, I don't get why they're listing that as one of the false accusations. They were very clearly found out to be using other company names in order to release games on Steam. Especially now, when they're listing several games in Greenlight that were originally posted in Greenlight under those other company names.I don't know what these people hope to accomplish, especially on the "company impersonation" front. All Jim has to do is contact the ACTUAL company that was being impersonated and ask them if they have ever threatened legal action against either of these two brothers. If the answer is yes then he has all he needs to fight that charge.
I am now subscribed to this Jim Sterling person as a result of this video (and the related ones) so... Yay?Yeah I had no idea who they were before this. Now I know they make REALLY shitty games.
Welcome, brother. *bows* Thank God for Jim fucking Sterling, son.[DOUBLEPOST=1458169324,1458169244][/DOUBLEPOST]Also, I've posted this before, but if you have the time, I highly recommend Jim's interview with Robert Romino of Digital Homicide. It's painfully uncomfortable to listen to, especially some of the ridiculous leaps in logic that Robert makes.I am now subscribed to this Jim Sterling person as a result of this video (and the related ones) so... Yay?
