Well, we are getting Sun and Moon as the next installments, so...
I doubt they'll add a new Pokemon type since they just did that last generation.
Though I'd prefer that to the rumor that there will be Pokemon-trainer fusions, as apparently has happened on the show at this point. -_-
I think this has only happened in the PokeMon ReBurst manga. But really, it's not THAT odd... they are already sort of ripping off Digimon with the whole "temporary evolution" thing, so why not take Biomerge and Spirit Fusion as well?
I guess I figured Pokemon was so far ahead of Digimon in terms of sales and popularity that they didn't need to rip them off.
Now I guess we just wait for when every Pokemon's final evolution is covered in blades and guns.
Digimon actually used to be neck and neck with Pokemon in the Us for awhile, mostly because the show was better. And it's hard for some people to remember but Digimon is actually from the 80's...
Yeah, but the neck and neck time period was probably 15 years ago or more. Nowadays people seem surprised when a new Digimon game is even localized.
That kinda happens in pokken tournament, where you can build your trainer synergy to make the Pokemon go into burst mode.

You're right, for some reason I thought Digimon came out before Tamagatchi.
Also from the nineties! I remember back in the day, when all the big kids would flaunt them, and a year later when none of them wanted to acknowledge owning one-AS is the way of all things.

So... she's sort of like a mix of Trakeena (Lost Galaxy), Divatox (Turbo), and Scorpina (MMPR)? Alright, whatever. As someone who watches the show, I'm willing to let go of those memories for the sake of mass market appeal, as long as the movie itself isn't a shitfest.

If the movie isn't as least sort of terrible, they are doing it wrong imo.
There is goofy, good-natured cheese and then there is stuff that isn't fun. Fun is the key word here: Power Rangers/Super Sentai is a show about superheros handled in an often comedic, fun way. It can drift into other genres (RPM is fairly dark) but, as a whole it's just Silver Age heroics personified. Haim Saban gets this, as is evident in the current season of the show (Super Dinocharge), so I have faith it will be fine.
Depending on how much control Saban will have vs Legendary, who's Godzilla put me to sleep.
I do agree with your post, and also want to add that RPM really knew how to balance tone, that show. It might just be the darkest and most humorous PR series.
The Transformers Movies are perfectly fine (even with 2 being a complete disaster)
