Gas Bandit's Political Thread V: The Vampire Likes Bats

Notch spends a lot of his social media time just saying things to provoke a reaction. Does that sound familiar?

I still say Hillary's best move would be to try to work something out with the Sanders camp. And sadly, she's enough of a politician that she'd be willing to add things to the party platform if she thought it'd get her back in 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Man, Notch doesn't give a fuck. He's too busy battling the ennui that only comes from having run out of end game content in life. He's at the same point people are when you put in cheat codes for the Sims, and then have nothing left to do because you have everything.

Basically, what I'm saying is he probably drowns people in his pool.

The thing is, that ALL men do the explaining thing to everyone, even each other. They don't do it specifically to women just to put them down. But this is a conversation we already sort of had.

Also, I call people dicks all the time, and no one gets gender offended. ;)

Not even Charlie?
I kind of resent the gender roles inherent in equating my genitals with negative stuff/aggression and I don't see why "assholes" wouldn't do the same job, but it doesn't really bother me or reduce my massive privilege[DOUBLEPOST=1464015023,1464014953][/DOUBLEPOST]
Charlie only cares if you attack a minority. You can't white knight straight white christian males.
well, yeah, they don't need any advocates. they run the world already.

Nobody told me. It's ridiculous to assume all white men are somehow better off because of privilege. yes, it exists, and whatever, but it's not a magical "your life will be ok" button. I've been bullied, attacked, molested, passed over for promotions, treated unfairly by law enforcement, and what-have-you, too. But I don't deserve protection or help? FU, Charlie, that's an incredibly insensitive, racist and sexist thing to say, saying I don't need anyone to protect me because of my race, gender or belief. It also shows that you're more interested in paternally protecting someone else rather than protect whoever needs help, color blind wise.

The beauty of mansplaining (the term) is you can use it to defend yourself against anyone who tries to say you don't want to hear, or anything against it.

It used to be called "EXplaining" and was used for all genders.

I was expounding a couple weeks ago on some topic (I don't remember exactly what) to my wife, and she said to me, "Oh, stop trying to mansplain that to me."
I had never heard the term before, and so she brought me up to speed on this Tumblrism.
I then replied that I was not expounding from the point of view of my gender, rather from one I believed to be a position of experience/authority.
She replied, "See? You're doing it again!"

(actually no she didn't say that second part, but that's exactly the sort of situation where I expect the term gets thrown about)

Jim Jeffries has a thought that the c-bomb doesn't get used as much in the US as it should. My wife wholeheartedly agrees with him.

I dunno, I swear like a sailor, but I'm still a little uncomfortable using the c-word. I can't say I've never said it, but I feel like it's one of the only swear words left that really has impact (the other being the n-word which i can't imagine saying in a context that if describe as swearing).

The c-word is stronger simply because it's used less. A cunt or a dick, what's the difference?
...No, wait, phrasing.

Being called a dick or a cunt, what's the difference?

There are a lot of women trying to "take back" cunt. On its own, it's a lovely, earthy slang word for vagina, much like cock is for penis. I've been seeing it more and more in writing by female authors, especially younger authors, for sex scenes. Vagina is just too clinical, pussy is too "porny", and don't get me started on the vague euphemisms ("her core").

In both gender equality and langauge, cunt should not be treated any differently than dick. :awesome:

"My sensual womanhood."

"Your dusty vazsheen!"

I'm certainly not adverse to swearing, I probably do it more than I should among friends, but I'm not very likely to say cunt. It just sounds... bad... gutteral and angry, and using it as a slur makes me uncomfortable. It would require someone to make me very, very angry before it felt appropriate, man or woman.

But as dirty talk? Oh yeah, that can work...

We already have radio stations that play "cock rock."
I don't know if America is ready for us to redefine "chick flicks" in the manner you suggest.
