[TV] The What Anime Are You Watching Thread!

Sherlock Hound

Dear LORD I can tell I'm gonna love this, though part of me kept feeling Moriarty should've yelled out "NEXT TIME GADGET! NEEEEEEEEEEEEEXT TIME!"

Love Live season 1:
Holy crap who thought a show about an all girls school facing shutdown trying to be saved by 9 of its students forming an idol group would be this interesting. Best of all the girls are pretty well fleshed out too!

That plot sounds so stereotypically Disneyish.
The only way it could be more Disneyish would be if they had to play baseball at some point.

princess 9 starts out super cool and just kind of sputters, and coasts to an end.
It's not my favorite Baseball anime (Cross game), but it's serviceable. Your description is spot on too, I don't even recall if I finished it, and I'm not sure I particularly care.

long story short
the main character ends up mutually confessing her love to the boys star batter after they lose their final championship game to the boys team in nationals.

I FREAKING adore Love Live. Kotori is my baby.

So i also just finished Chiaka the coffin princess. Holy shit what a screwed up fantasy series. I really cant wait for season 2!

Apparently they are remaking D Gray Man.
Ah, the series based in England but the monsters are named after Japanese personifications of hate....even...though they look nothing like anything inspired by either English or Japanese folklore. Either way, if its popular enough for a remake show ala FMA, I think I might give it a second chance. Either way, every time I think of these two forces of good and evil fight over a power source I will think this is the Shonen version of Transformers Gen 1. Also the main character's possessed arm is a rip of "Hell Teacher Nube" as well as the entire TREND of possessed arms. Its either eyes, or arms, what about legs? Have a guy with a possessed leg, call the series "Restless" it'd be awesome.

It's interesting to see how anime CG has evolved over the years. A lot of it still looks like hot garbage, but every once in awhile a shiny diamond pokes through the rough.

I linked it somewhere earlier in the thread, but it still amazes me that the absolute best CG I've seen in a 30-minute anime is a bunch of moe animal-girls fighting each other to be Zodiac representatives.

The thing that is most irritating about the original series is that it's a) mostly filler, and b) ends in the middle. I know this isn't the studio's fault, though. The manga author got sick, and still suffers poor health and hiatuses.

Hunter X Hunter has gotten so bad that the hiatus is considered normal and a comic being published is the real break.

Thanks "Another" for giving me an irrational fear of walking down stairs with an umbrella. Especially one tipped for some reason with apparently a dagger of some sort.

Anybody who doesn't hate teenagers must not interact with them to any notable degree :p
I work at 2 colleges, one a junior college. Like 2/3rds of the students I interact with are 18 and 19 year olds. Yeah, they're kind of annoying, but they're just young.

Full Metal Alchemist movie announced, and they're saying it'll be an all-Japanese cast.

I mean, that's cool, but if anything most characters would likely be of Germanic descent save for the foreign (likely Chinese) ones introduced late in the series.
Japan has a real problem with casting non-Japanese people, even if they can speak perfect Japanese. It's just a cultural thing; they seem to think the language is beyond gaijins or something so anytime a western speaks it well it just completely blows their minds.

I suppose it's fair. I have issues with Japanese live-action adaptations of anime because anime is drawn in such a way that none of the characters look to be of asian descent.
