Gas Bandit's Political Thread V: The Vampire Likes Bats

Hey I can talk politics now!

The leaders of North America are meeting, as you guys know, but down here we've been having the BEST of times laughing at our hilariously inept president fumbling even basic hand shakes and not knowing where he is or where to stand:

Oh how we hate that fucker. He's our George W. Bush, except it's more like 90% of the population that really hates him.

Sounds like he should be imprisoned on an island east of Acapulco.

On the bright side, our PM is set on making it much easier for us to live in each other's countries.

Yeah, so is our President, we'd banned importing Canadian beef since a mad cow scare in like 2009 and they lifted it with these talks they had recently. Now you guys lift visa requirements for us and talk about how Mexico and Canada are looking forward to renewed friendship. It's hard not to see it as circle-wagoning against a possible Trump administration, is that the feeling you guys get up there too?

Absolutely.

NAFTA sure has a lame secret handshake.

What a coincidence! US Attorney General Loretta Lynch met with former President Bill Clinton privately at an airport in Phoenix. Don't worry about the fact that it'll be up to her to indict Bill's wife, Hillary, on several charges related to scandals with her unsecured email server and lying to federal investigators. Because it was totally a coincidence that the two met on a private fucking plane and didn't talk about anything regarding the case at all. You'd have to be stupid to believe otherwise because that would be illegal.

Do they even try and hide their corruption any longer? For fuck's sake.

I'm frequently reminded of that scene in Air America where Major Demond basically tells Senator Davenport, "Oh, why should I care any more? You can't touch me!"

In other news, Apple has been granted a patent for technology that emits an infrared signal that disables Apple products from being able to record videos or take pictures. Supposedly they did this in response to people taking videos and pictures instead of watching concerts. And while I think that's pretty great for that, I think there's a LOT of room for abuse with this technology. Like police getting a hold of this to prevent anyone from recording them or criminals disabling security cameras (the tech could be altered to cover more than just Apple products.)

I think this is a case of solving a minor problem while creating major problems as a result.[DOUBLEPOST=1467291956,1467291910][/DOUBLEPOST]
....And which is which, exactly? o:)
Trump isn't a criminal (that I know of) unless you consider his criminal ineptitude or stupidity. And no, cunning is not intelligent.

You should look into the Trump University stuff. I'm not saying he's a Hillary-level mob boss, but he's definitely knowingly involved with illegal activities.

This too, especially since his answer to it boils down to "you can't rape your wife because she's YOUR WIFE."
I think Frank might be talking about the accusations from multiple 13 year old girls, particularly one that Trump allegedly shared with known pedofile billionaire Jeffrey Epstein. One of Trump's former party planners gave a statement to the effect that she was hired to find adolescent girls to attend Trump events.

They do mention the Trump Wife Rape allegations in that article @Bubble181 posted a few posts up too.

I didn't read that the first time as I missed it. Jesus fucking christ. Is being a child molester or degenerate sexual predator a fucking prerequisite for having a lot of power? What the fuck?

Really makes you appreciate people like Jimmy Carter and Bernie. And yes, both Bush presidents were good people.

Jimmy's a walking saint but even I wouldn't call him a good PRESIDENT. Virtually all of his really notable acts took place ether before or after his presidency (aside from authorizing the whole ARGO thing to get the American embassy staff out of Iran). What's with the peacenik presidents always having the best war stories?

The kind of people who have the drive to take the power they desire are often also the kind of people to decide that certain rules don't apply to them. This is seen in a variety of situations.

Also, the age of consent is very much a an artificial cultural construct, and not a biological fact. In Austria, Germany, Portugal and Italy, the age of consent is 14. In Korea, it's 13. In the Phillipines, it is apparently 12.

It was 12, nationally, in Japan last I checked... though virtually all prefectures have raised it to 18 in recent years.

That's all food for another discussion - there are still plenty of countries out there where it's impossible to rape in marriage, and sexual age laws only apply outside of marriage, and all that sort of fun. "It would have been legal in X" doesn't matter much, though. Smoking a joint is legal in [fill in State here] but that won't get you out of a fine (or jail time) in [fill in State here].

As for power and young girls: it's been theorized that men who strive for power often either look for dominance in sex and other relationships as well, thus preferring an uneven relationship; either with themselves as sub (as a form of release) or as dom (often not recognized as such, but more bent towards the still-considered-typical old guy / innocent young girl relationship). You can see this in other aspects of life as well - "alpha dog" syndrome, not having close "equal" friends but rather uneven employer or mecenas or benefactor relationships.
