Games on SALE!

Speaking of selling off trading cards, I crunched my numbers. I've bought over $108 worth of games, soundtracks, and my Steam controller with Steam wallet funds gained by the sale of virtual items. Granted, I'm a rare case because of my TellTale Games items in TF2. Over $80 of what I spent came from just three items (Max's Severed Head, the Lugermorph, and the Big Kill). I also had $5 come from a hat I got for pre-ordering Trine 2.

Still, over $20 came from Trading cards, and more common TF2 items. And I've still got a lot left to sell, more cards, more TF2 items, and more cards to earn.

Welp, sold a bunch of my Steam trading cards for some credit.

Used it to buy Alan Wake American Nightmare and Shower With Your Dad Simulator 2015.

....please don't judge me on the latter. I heard it was fun.
I kinda want to google that game, but I'm at work...

So, summer sale this year's wrapping up. The only game I got was Stardew Valley, which I'm very happy with. I also tried to get GTA5 but couldn't get it to work.

Next sale I'm thinking of picking up the Far Cry games. Been watching some of its gameplay on Youtube, seems interesting.

Eh...Bought nothing this time around. Grim Dawn someone here suggested looked cool, but 25% just isn't enough of a discount for a game in a genre where I already own a bunch :p

I ended up getting...

- Alone in the Dark: New Nightmare (PSX era title) (Can get it to run, but can't remap keys because it's all in fucking spanish due to the spanish .exe I have to use to boot the game)
- Deadly Premonition: Director's Cut (I KNOW how to get this running correctly)
- Resident Evil Revelations 2 (Sequel to surprise hit) (Works fine and it tons of fun)

I got Grandia 2 and Undertale. I considered buying other things that were under $20, but decided they could wait at least 1 more sale, given my backlog.

Hey, I got Undertale too. This is my first instance of succumbing to the Steam sale. I thought I would feel dirtier.

Okay fine - I had hoped I would feel dirtier.

At least the steam sale is still good for a revenue bump on my youtube channel. Lots of people apparently bought Space Engineers last weekend. Made 10 bucks more than normal over the last 10 days. So basically, it bought me Grandia 2 remastered.

Makin' it Rain!

I got...
  • Styx (So freaking fun. Styx + Dishonored now describes my perfect stealth-ish game).
  • Age of Mythology ('lent' my copy to a friend a decade ago, about time to revisit it).
  • Rogue Legacy (pirate guilt).

They actually released a brand new expansion for AoM last year, in honor of the remaster and the fan base for Age games.

Yeah, I saw Tale of the Dragon, but reviews turned me away from it.

The only reason I bought it is because someone here recommended it (might've been you, too lazy to check :p). Probably my best videogame purchase this year.
It was, in fact, me. It was me all along.

Styx is super fun.
Really? After how God awful that original game where you played as the orc was I have always just written it off.

Just like those fucks at Spiders will never get another dime from me no matter how neat Technomancer looks because I played Mars: War Logs. I know you guys are terrible.

Cyanide also makes Blood Bowl, so I went in expecting it to be shit, because they're kind of a shit developer (even though they have licenses to games I love)

Turns out Styx is actually pretty good. Looking at reviews, it was broken when launched, but has since been patched to be a good game.

Yeah, I looked at trailers/gameplay for the first game and was very unimpressed. Styx has nothing to do with that, though. It feels like a polished 3rd-person Thief with engaging stealth mechanics and a decent combat system.

My main criticism is that there isn't a currency/looting system (the only loot is 0-1 unique items per map that give XP, plus 10 collectible coins per map, which you have to find all of in a mission to get an XP bonus). This game would've really benefited from a Dishonored-esque shop of improvements (the XP choices don't feel varied enough). The core gameplay is to work your way through each map, and there's little else to do/seek.

The replayability seems nice, though, with the challenges. Haven't finished it yet, so time'll tell.

My haul:

-Day of the Tentacle
-The Beginner's Guide (both thanks to @Ravenpoe!)

The rest were from selling a butt load of trading cards that have been in my inventory for ages:
-Punch Club
-Quest for Infamy
-Shower with Your Dad Simulator 2015
-Alan Wake's American Nightmare

I also saw my GST cheque was on the way, so I jumped on the recent Humble Bundle, since it had a couple of games on my Wishlist.

On one hand, I'm not a huge cyberpunk fan, what I've tried hasn't always clicked....
On the other hand, that's a steal.
On the gripping hand, I don't have time to play anyway.
On the one hoof, I haven't bought anything on either Steam or GOG summer sales.
On the other hoof, it's a Steam key, and I prefer GOG keys.
On the one wing, I've heard a lot of good about these games.
On the other wing, I have never heard of chrono.gg, are their keys OK?
On the....errr guys I'm running out of limbs here, noodly appendage, why not give it a try.

Here's TotalBiscuit's announcement of his partnership:

In short:
- He checked with the game publishers (who provide the Steam keys) and they're legit
- His affiliate link only functions when the 24-hour deal is a game he's endorsed. (I've seen days when it doesn't function)

Elite Dangerous: Arena is free on steam until Monday. Anyone who downloads the game before then can keep it forever.

Arena is a standalone client for the pvp dogfighting mode of Elite Dangerous. Being a game within a game, it's not exactly the deepest of games, and you don't get access to the rest of Elite, but at free, it's a good way to tell if you like the gameplay. And I'm pretty sure anyone that purchases Elite while owning Arena gets a discount, if you ever choose to get the full game.
