Yeah, much like Foster Thor I'm sure anyone who just doesn't like the book will be labelled as a racist/misogynist/etc because fuck your tastes you're just a shitlord.[DOUBLEPOST=1467829677,1467829600][/DOUBLEPOST]Oh and Iron (Wo)Man will be written by Bendis.Let me just go ahead and give you the stock answer to your criticism. "You just can't handle the fact that she's as good as your straight white cis-male hero!"
For every Ms Marvel and Miles Morales (not written by Bendis), there's Jane Foster Thor and Miles Morales (written by Bendis).
And since Bendis only writes two characters (Spider-man and not Spider-man) she'll wind up sounding like a 40 year old Jewish man.Yeah, much like Foster Thor I'm sure anyone who just doesn't like the book will be labelled as a racist/misogynist/etc because fuck your tastes you're just a shitlord.[DOUBLEPOST=1467829677,1467829600][/DOUBLEPOST]Oh and Iron (Wo)Man will be written by Bendis.
So there's that.
I bet he'll kill off Batman, just to be a dick.Any guesses for next week's big death at Bendis's hand?
I'm split 60/40 on She-Hulk/Bruce Banner.
c'mon you gotta know it's [FE]maleIron (Wo)Man .
I hate myself for missing that chance.c'mon you gotta know it's [FE]male
It's [Fe] dammit...c'mon you gotta know it's [FE]male
Vision had a short solo run before this reboot that's really good, I recommend checking it out....is that a teenaged girl Vision? HOLD ON-*Searching mode* Vision has a daughter? Um...okay, that snuck up on me.
It's a time-displaced, teenage Cyclops.Everyone else I understand, but why is Cyclops there and now 12-years-old?
Ditto what CynicismKills said. Vision creates a family for himself, goes off to live in suburbia. It's a must-read that I'll hopefully get the first trade for for my birthday. Second and final trade comes out later this year....is that a teenaged girl Vision? HOLD ON-*Searching mode* Vision has a daughter? Um...okay, that snuck up on me.
This is my only hesitation as far as the team's make-up. The teenage old team has been problematic (young Jean Gray sure does love reading minds without consent) and Marvel keeps sweeping anything mutant-related under the rug. I'm surprised he's even there from an editorial standpoint. Maybe they wanted someone who'd argue with Nova over who gets to play team leader. It sure as shit shouldn't be Nova. It's a time-displaced, teenage Cyclops.
The top comment from that page sums it up well for me:Genndy Tartakovsky is writing a Luke Cage limited series set in the 1970s.

In other words: I'm in!I didn't ask for this!!!
I'll take ten.
Between the two Civil Wars, Marvel is set to make their heroes the bad guys. At this point Carol Danvers is determined to turn the world into a fascist society, which she can make sure remains orderly from her orbiting battle station."Hey guys, remember when we made Iron Man evil as part of our Axis event, except the timing of the books never lined up and we never bothered to turn him good? People loved that right?"
I hate Marvel and DC's obsession with their villains, and the crappy "they're not so bad, the heroes are the true badguys and asshole for making judgements about them!" Story lines that go along with it.
So far DC Rebirth is doing good with that, but "so far" is only two issues in for some series and not even started yet for others. The only not getting along I've seen is that NU52 heroes are wary about pre-Flashpoint Superman, but that makes sense considering he's from another universe and is taking place of someone they've all known for years. I'd think they were stupid to not be wary, but I'm confident they'll find their comradery soon enough.*sigh* I miss when the heroes were heroes, acted like heroes, got along, and fought bad guys.
I just have no interest in any of DC. It's too muddled in events and crossovers. To fully get what's going on in Superman, I'd have to catch up on the nu52 Superman titles (no), read Convergence (no), and follow other Rebirth titles (no).So far DC Rebirth is doing good with that, but "so far" is only two issues in for some series and not even started yet for others. By what I've been hearing from others, you are wrong. They haven't done any of those things and are enjoying the re-start of the books. In fact they seem to be having a better time of it than people that kept up with everything.I just have no interest in any of DC. It's too muddled in events and crossovers. I didn't read any of that shit and I'm following just fine. I don't even know what Convergence was. All I know is:I just have no interest in any of DC. It's too muddled in events and crossovers. I guess at this point, I don't want to read it on pure principle. I want titles that are more self-contained that don't require all this extra explanation from the fallout of events.I didn't read any of that shit and I'm following just fine. I don't even know what Convergence was. All I know is:
-Nu52 angsty Supes was terminal
-Old universe Supes plus Lois and son hid out from the Nu52, came back incognito as the Smiths
- Old universe Supes had to play hero, because he can't help it, which is part of what makes him so lovable
-Nu52 Supes died
I think you read the Rebirth one-shot with Wally?
There. You're caught up. Seriously, that's it. Superman doesn't even don the blue and red to take nu52 Supes place until the first new issue of Action Comics, and the Superman series seems like it's doing its own thing. Everyone seems to be doing their own thing.
I've never read DC comics before and I'm doing fine. I'm not trying to get you back into them; just don't want you operating under misinformation.
That makes sense. Those are certainly stories they could and should have told instead of all this NU52 dithering, especially since back in 2011 when the NU52 started, there was already this hinting that it wouldn't last. Within the first month of titles, a mysterious figure popped up in a few issues telling a few heroes that something is wrong with their world, blah blah. So not only was it not a genuine blank slate (especially with Batman, where they wanted it to be assumed that all the Batman stuff still happened because they didn't want to lose the stories), but that NU52 was not a permanent state of events. I'm not sure Rebirth was the plan all along, but DC definitely had something intended from the start.I guess at this point, I don't want to read it on pure principle. Plus, it bothers me that they basically skipped over 5+ years of Superman development that I, as a fan, have been dying to see all my life. The realization Lois is pregnant, the announcement to Clark and loved ones, the drama over whether she can even carry through, etc. All that is stories that I wanted to see because I've wanted to see this story ever since I became a fan.
Instead, it's washed away in a disposable 2-part story during another stupid, useless event that focused more on the crowbar-forced fight between Superman and someone from another world. And they skipped those 5 years because they were too busy telling stories with Super Emo.
I wish I had your faith. I really do. I WANT to get back into DC but I just can't. The same people in charge for Nu52 (Johns, Didio, Lee) are still in charge. The same upper-editorial problems still exist. Rebirth is just a fresh coat of paint over the same problems. I heard all this renewed hope and excitement for DC with the Nu52. Hell, I was there early in, too. And that fell to pieces quickly. That makes sense. For me, this is a good jumping in point since it sounds like DC wants to do right going forward. I'm even looking forward to the events if they continue to follow through on stuff they've set up with Rebirth. Both of those statements are not things I can say for Marvel right now.
Well, you'll certainly hear me bitch about it if it all goes bad. Only thing is that I've never read DC comics before. I've just paid attention when people talk comic storylines and such. But I don't have a basis for comparison or know when a story has been done to death. I've seen people going "meh" about this first new arc for Action Comics because Doomsday is present, but there are a lot of questions being raised in-comic having to do with it and I want to see what the answers are.I wish I had your faith.
