Minor victory thread

So my mouse at work, a standard Microsoft two-button-one-wheel mouse, was getting hard to use. The buttons and scroll wheel were getting gunked up after years of use, which was making it unresponsive. I could go to IT and ask for another mouse, but it'd likely be yet another Microsoft mouse that's seen years of service, which meant I'd probably not be much better off.

So instead I decided to just buy my own mouse. I went to a computer store and spent around ten bucks on a gaming-standard mouse, with five buttons and a shiny red and black outer casing. It reminds me of a Transformer, or of Iron Man, if Tony Stark's armor was red and black instead of red and gold. As far as functionality goes, it works much better than my old mouse. In terms of gaming performance, there's probably nothing special about it (only cost ten bucks, after all), but everything works so smoothly and easily now.

Seeing my cool mouse actually makes me happier when I come in to work now.

Took the kids out shopping today just me and not only did they behave but they helped
with my cane and purse and carrying stuff AND each spotted a rare coloured orchid I didn't already have!!

I'm not dreaming!!

My friend is in Vancouver visiting her family. She promised to bring me back figs from their fig trees since they should be ripening now. Fresh figs are not easy to come by in Alberta. I am so God damned stoked.

TYL Trader Joe's carries them half-dried and frozen, assuming there's one near you.

Nope!

Even still, fresh not-frozen figs less than a day off the tree is the best God damn thing in the world. Frozen and dried do not compare. Fig trees just don't grow here.

Figs and saskatoons are my favorite fruits.

My computer speakers broke, and they're probably not even a year old.
This inspired me to get a new headset since I can get a discount through work, so I'm gonna get an above-average headset (since I need a mic anyway if I'm going to be teaming up with other people), and I caved and figured I'd get myself a new keyboard at the same time from the same company. Discount saved $50 off the money I probably shouldn't be spending anyway.
Oh, and because I put it off for so long, both the keyboard and headset came down in price as of yesterday, so that's an additional $50 I'm going to unexpectedly save.
So...yay?

Spent most of Friday getting a replacement phone for mom. The 5s wouldn't hold a charge below ~50%. It'd immediately snap to zero. Got her a new SE.

Wiped the old one and charged it all night to be sure. ecoATM gave me $60 for it this morning. :)

Minor victory #1:
I managed to extract 6 good 18650 batteries from a discarded laptop battery. If I were to have bought these from the e-cig store, it would've cost me $120.00. I have two more laptop batteries to tear down and test.

Minor victory #2:
I was accepted into the Washington DC local Author's Guild Facebook group. It already looks a lot more active then their recent attempt at starting a Guild members' stand-alone forum.
