I never thought this day would come, but I really think I've nearly lost all interest in video games. They just all seem the same. Don't get me wrong, the stories are neat and varied, but the gameplay just all feels the same (within categories, of course), and it all feels played out and frankly tedious.
Is this a recent feeling, or has it been coming on over the last few years? Some of the medications you've more recently started taking may alter how you perceive and enjoy forms of entertainment you used to enjoy.

It's been a building thing over the past few years. Definitely predates the medication.

You must be good at finding connections between disparate things.

It's my belief that everyone hits a point where they've learned all the plots, tropes, and themes, and suddenly everything new is finally seen as some sort of rehash of something else. Games, movies, political platforms, porn, you've "seen it all" and so everything becomes "meh."

Yeah, so I've heard.

Some days are a neverending cavalcade of pain and anguish and everything everywhere smells like fresh dog shit.

But some days, work has all the free cherry Dr Pepper you could ever hope to drink in the break room fridge.

There's give and take.

Yes.
And some days, you come in and find someone has mixed cherry Dr. Pepper into your big pile of dog shit because they were "trying to make it easier for you."

Whoa.

This is weird.

My brother just texted me and said "Do you know Halforums, and guy who posted there as General Specific?"

"Yeah"

"Believe it or not, I'm working with him today." GS recognized the last name. Is that not wild? Crazy small world thing.

My friend got hit on by a stand-up comic last night. It was fucking adorable. He was so God damn shy and blushy about it.

I know it's been a little while since I've posted anything, but I just wanted to say hi. I haven't forgotten about you and I still love you.

[DOUBLEPOST=1469011685,1469011171][/DOUBLEPOST]So I've been re-watching Star Trek DS9 for the first time in years. I've just started Season 7 and I've quite enjoyed revisiting it. I find I'm more into the Bajoran politics and religion this time around, for example, especially Sisko's gradual acceptance in his role as Emissary. The Ferengi episodes are always a hoot. I've never been a fan of any Klingon-focused Star Trek episode for some reason.

My favourite episodes, personally, are still (in order):

-Badda Bing Badda Bang (it always has been, always will)
-Far Beyond the Stars
-His Way (which is, in my opinion, one of the best payoffs for a romance in a TV show)
-Trials & Tribbulations
Children of Time

Probably no surprise that anything with a 30's/40's setting are my favourite. :p If I ever find some poor sucker that'll marry me, I'd love to do this with the wedding party:

Heads up, everyone.

Also, my bartender was complaining last night about all her coworkers, and the kitchen, playing the game. So yeah, now I make sure to inspect my chicken wings for squirtle juice before eating.

Today I'm editing a subtitle translation case. It's actually probably my favorite case thus far in my four years of working here. It's for a Mainland Chinese TV series, very melodramatic, quite riveting. There's one character who's a Chinese girl who's supposed to have grown up in the US. As a result, she peppers her speech in Chinese with English words and phrases. And every time she does, the English is spoken by a dubbed-over voice that is COMPLETELY different from the actress's own voice. It's actually very funny. Presumably the actress couldn't say the English dialogue without an accent, which is why they went for the dubbing method. But now every time she speaks English, it's sort of like when you watch a Disney musical and the singing voice is obviously different from the speaking voice.
