Good lord. She saw her dad a couple times a year. How fucking sad.

The last time David Duke rose to prominence was the same year Pee Wee Herman got arrested for jerkin' it.

I remember this only because NPR did one of their dumb songs about "the year's biggest things" and they rhymed "David Duke becoming a national leader" with "Pee-Wee enjoying himself in a theater."

So... uh.. 1991?

Yep, that's when I was living in Louisiana, home to criminals being elected to office. We couldn't vote in Louisiana, because we kept our Texas "citizenship" while in the military. was interesting talking to the locals about why they supported this candidate that that one, most common answer was "Better the thief that we know..."

I was actually more or less surprised they didn't manage to leak e-mails that showed/proved actual fraud/misconduct more conclusively. I'm not saying it was orchestrated at the highest level, but I'm fairly sure that here and there, there were people who were nudge nudge wink winked into maybe just sort of skirting the line for the greater good, at the very least. A couple of idiots who put something in writing that would provide legal proof of falsified results and who knows what'd happen?
