And it cost $40
Honestly, if they'd done a good job with the port, I wouldn't have even worried about that. I've been waiting a decade for a good PC port of the MUA games. I even considered getting a 360 to play the game, since the original PC port was so shitty it officially didn't support any version of Windows after XP. I loved the X-Men Legends series, and I've thought many times over the years about how I missed out on MUA. This pair of cash-in ports feels like a cruel joke.

Each game $40, bundle $60, for games nine and seven years old, no DLC on the first, tons of crap problems on the PC version, and since it's Activision, what are the odds of solid patch-job?

IF I get the console equivalents for PS4, it'll be on a generous sale ... which will probably be by the end of the year.

I backed Slain on Kickstarter and it turned out to be the biggest disappointment of any I had in the past (makes Mighty No 9 look like Mega Man 2 in comparison). Long and short of it is the game was a complete piece of shit. Like so close to literal shit I could smell it. They're releasing a big ass patch today or as they're calling it a complete relaunch of the game that promises to make it less shit. The creator of the game went to an entirely new developer to salvage the steaming pile of virtual shit the game was. They're also gifting everyone that owns it a free copy of the game to give to someone else. So, if you want it, lemme know and if it ends up being more than one person, I'll roll the dice.

The game sounds rad and looks rad, hopefully after today it will actually play rad.

So, after spending about 20 minutes with the new version of the game, I can safely say that it is an UNBELIEVABLE improvement. Combat feels HUNDREDS of times better. Movement is better. They added a new charge attack that is fun to use. I've already run into a new enemy type that wasn't in the game before. The mechanics are a major, major step up from the pile of shit that the game was before. I've never seen something improve this much in such a short time (the game was released in April originally).

It's so far good. I'll play it some more and gather some more opinion of the game. I'm already further in than I got with the initial version, it was that unplayable.

If no one else says anything by tomorrow morning I'll roll the die. The murder die.

Alright flipping a coin!

Heads Poe, Tails Den.

Best two out of three.

I'm using a nickel, because it's all I have handy.

Flip 1 - Tails

Flip 2 - Heads

FLIP 3 - Tails

Alright Den, you win. What's your Steam name?

NOOOOOOO!

Marvel Ultimate Alliance finally gets a digital PC release, and the MUA2 finally gets a PC release at all... but it's a complete shit-show. Terrible PC port. No DLC included for the first game (with no way to get it). Non-sensical K&M support, bugged controller support. Sound issues.

What a colossal disappointment.
The fan outcry got Marvel to talk to Activision, and they'll be adding in the missing DLC characters, and at least attempting to patch the oustanding issues. At least one patch has already been released for PC.

I think I'll be adding this to my wishlist and seeing what prices are like when/if it's on sale.

Did you have a sub to Nintendo Power when you were a kid? I know I did. I was subbed for years, from the NES era through to the beginning of the N64.

Here's EVERY issue on archive.org.

Sweeeet. I def was down with the NP. Hell, I was getting it back when it was just called the "Nintendo Fun Club Newsletter." Those first couple issues especially were hella rad. I'll remember that Castlevania 2 writeup until my dying day.

For Jay - Nintendo Power released a 100 page guide for Final Fantasy that gave you a guide to each region, a map for every dungeon, and advice for each boss, as well as items to get in the local stores. It was extremely helpful in a fairly difficult game.

They also ran a big contest for that guide, where you and 3 friends could embark on an adventure on a tropical island.
