This is a recurring theme. It's kind of amazing the thing Trump fans give him a pass on, yet Hillary is the one that is the greater of the two evils.

Fuck 'em both. Let's give Obama another term or bring back Bernie.

Keeping it classy as always.

So his commentary on someone who says he has issues with women is to make up a sex tape that apparently doesn't exist and call her disgusting.

He's seriously one of the most vile people alive.

There is LITERALLY video of him mocking her in front of reporters while she does mandatory workouts because she was a pig who likes to eat.

I guess this is one of the things that I don't understand. Hillary and Bernie shared 97% similar votes in the senate. How is it remotely feasible to say "fuck 'em both' when one candidate matches so closely to your preferred candidate, and so exactly opposite to probably one of the worst candidates put forward in modern times? There's this weird false equivalency going on that I don't quite understand, especially among my Trump supporter friends who call her Crooked and Liar Hillary, but when pressed just say that she would destroy the country. No one answers "How would she do that?" other than raising taxes and admitting Muslims?

The main danger is that it is assumed she will probably appoint a liberal judge to the supreme court to fill Scalia's seat (who was extremely conservative), and the fragile facade of a balance of power in the government body that gets the final say in all things will shift to the left for the foreseeable future, given that the appointments are for life. Apart from that, it'd just be yet another step down the path to socialism, with higher taxes and increased government spending. Obama has already increased the debt as much as all other presidents combined - and a big part of Hillary's "appeal" is that she'll continue to do more of the same - increasing the power and invasiveness of the federal government more into the lives of Americans and writing bad checks to do so. It's the eternal struggle of individualism vs statism, and trump supporters don't yet realize the statists won when Obamacare was passed - that was a barbed hook that won't come out.

That makes sense from a conservative perspective, but why would anyone remotely left-leaning say the same thing? Too centrist?

A lot of people like Bernie not so much because of his ideas but because he was an "outsider." Despite being in the senate for years, he's been an independent and generally outside of the political clashing that no one likes. Meanwhile, Hillary is probably the most "established" candidate since Bush 1. People who like the idea of an outsider without much caring of policy have gone to trump.

Oh, you mean former Bernie supporters that now won't vote Hillary? I don't know why they would say she would "destroy" the country. I can only assume they think she is a fake leftist (which, really, she is a little bit - she's only liberal because it was her path to self enrichment). That, and she clearly breaks any rule/law that suits her to do so, if it impedes her from getting what she wants.[DOUBLEPOST=1475257837,1475257802][/DOUBLEPOST]

IE, what I've said several times about Trump being a grenade people want to throw at DC.

Ehhh... I'm (reluctantly) voting Hillary, but her stance on Wall Street, her continued support of the TPP (until Sanders basically forced her to switch during the election if she wanted a prayer of winning), and her past support of fracking basically disgust me. Especially the fracking bit... it's been destroying water supplies all over Ohio and we already have problems with drinking water here, thanks to all the agricultural runoff into the water table.

I DO believe she is somewhat left on many issues, but she's basically a country club Republican otherwise.

So the Trump Foundation has something in common with Trump University now.

They're both frauds! That's right, it's come out that the Trump Foundation never got the credentials required to collect money as a charity.

So he's had payments made to the foundation to dodge taxes, used it to pay off his legal problems, bribed public officials with money from it, and used it to buy himself such nice things. I guess now he gets to say it was all fine because it never was a certified charity!

Shocker.

And I did like Bernie for his ideas, by the way. He had plans, he had answers, and he had the guts to fight for them. What *I* don't get are the Bernie people who are voting for Gary "where's Aleppo" Johnson. They are almost diametrically opposed in almost everything. If you were voting Bernie's progressive ideas, why then back Johnson's regressive ones?

My guess is they were not voting for his platform, but for his genuine quality. Hillary doesn't believe what she says. Trump doesn't know what he says. Bernie and Johnson are genuine.

Genuine but incompetent is not a virtue.
I dunno. Genuine/honest/convinced is a virtue, even if what you're genuine/honest about is absolute trash. There are quite a number of people - politicians and otherwise - whose point of view is completely opposite to mine, but who I still respect. On the other hand, there are people whose views align fairly closely to mine, but for who I have very little respect as their opinions and convictions are nothing personal, but just "as they learned", "as seems to be what the majority is thinking", "what is expedient to profess as a belief at the moment", or opportunistic.

Being incompetent and being genuine are two different things. One's a virtue, the other's a flaw. No-one's flawless, and it's up to each individual to balance a candidate's flaws and virtues and choose who they prefer.

Libertarian vice presidential nominee Bill Weld suggested Friday evening that Democrat Hillary Clinton may be the most qualified person to be president.
“I’m not sure anybody is more qualified than Hillary Clinton to be president of the United States,” Weld told MSNBC’s Chuck Todd when asked if Gary Johnson is more qualified.

“That’s not the end of the inquiry, though,” Weld continued. “We were two-term governors and I think Gary is very, very solid,” he said, describing the former New Mexico governor as 'insightful.' Weld argued Johnson would be a better president than Clinton because “he’s got a very appealing policy mix.” He defended his running mate during the appearance following Johnson’s gaffe this week when he couldn’t name a world leader he admires.

“I think his insight that it pays to have some restraint about military incursions for the purpose of regime change before we spill American blood on foreign soil and put boots on the ground in countries where we don’t just like what the government in that country is doing, I think that’s a valuable insight,” Weld said.
Weld argued the pair could be a “refreshing change” from the Bush and Obama administrations.
When Todd noted in the interview Friday that it sounded like Weld was scared of a potential Donald Trump presidency, Weld responded, “That’s for darn sure.”

Considering all those running for President still, along with those who entered the Primaries, I'd say he's right. She knows, intimately, what is to be President. She's worked in an exceptionally high position in Obama's administration, too. She's been in the Senate. She's educated. Etc. Becoming President, for her, is like an incremental promotion.

But Weld's also right in thinking that being the most qualified does not have to mean she's the best for the job.

. . . Although I gotta say I think she's the best of those still running for President . . . Although I'd like to word that in a way that would be damning through faint praise . . . But I'm lazy.
