[Gaming] Overwatch (#boycottblizz)

That's true. And I've noticed with myself, there's a difference in matches where I feel like playing a different character and I know I'm not contributing as much as I could, and then times where I just want to win (or I get pissed off), so I play my #1 main D.Va. But I figure unless it's competitive, it shouldn't matter too much.

In cases like that, I say "be the change you wish to see in the world." If someone's crying about needing a healer, they should switch to a healer. If someone wants a Reinhardt so bad, they should switch to Reinhardt themselves.
Problem is, I've sometimes been the guy to say "we need a healer" when I was the only tank on a team with 5 def/off characters - or "we need a tank or two" when I was the only support on a similarly configured team :D

It's particularly a problem when your team is you and 5 Reapers.
Funny, I didn't see you in that game last night.
...was Lúcio with 3 reapers (and 3 other but who cares characters) who of course blamed Lúcio (me) for not keeping them alive.
YOU HEAL BY KILLING PEOPLE - NO KILL = NO HEAL
Seriously with 3 reapers they should be descending on stragglers like wolves, killing them with impunity and wraithing away to let the other two flank, BUT NO each one has to try and solo carry.
Spoiler alert. It didn't work. I think I got silver eliminations, and gold objective kills WITH ONE.

The other games went much better. Even that roulette brawl where we ended up with 4 Zenyattas on our team.

If you're going to do free play, there's going to be some silly shit. If people are doing a full-Hanzo team, I just roll with it. We're not going to win, but it's pointless to bitch at them, so my options are to leave, be surly, or just play. I might even learn something.

That said, I played my first competitive match in weeks today and it was really satisfying to be a member of a competent team, and be able to rely on them as well as support them instead of going off being the only hero who's on the point/payload.

We had a competitive match last night in which between 2 healers we healed at least 9k damage in one round. Then a couple of rounds later, our randos decided we didn't need two healers and all three went tank or DPS for the 5th round of a KOTH. When I got the healing card at the end, and they saw my heal number + the damage taken percentage it was, they were shocked at how much damage we were taking. *facepalm*

I would blame Gas for not swapping to a healer when we noticed, but he was drunk and him and Terrik were the only ones actively trying to keep me alive anyways. :/

Just hit level "101" aka 1 redux. I didn't realize that getting promoted meant the required exp per level resets to earlier levels. I'm just gonna take a couple days' hiatus until the event, and then plow ahead with easy to attain loot boxes.

I'm hearing that the halloween event isn't going to start until nov 1...?

Wait, what? That makes no sense. It would make more sense to start this Tuesday, because then it would end November 1st, giving the event three weeks same as the Olympics event.

EDIT: Checked some sites and everything's pointing to ending on November 1st. I think your source got their wires crossed, Gas.

There's three weeks more before Halloween arrives, but it seems that fans of Blizzard Entertainment's "Overwatch" is getting an early treat. This is no trick, as the Xbox Store seems to have accidentally posted details about the upcoming Halloween Terror event.
According to VG24/7, the Xbox Store has listed an upcoming Halloween Terror event for "Overwatch," detailing some exclusive new content for the multiplayer first-person shooter video game. The listing also details the new Halloween Loot Boxes, which will be available beginning November 1 at 4 p.m. According to the listing, these Halloween Loot Boxes contain up to four cosmetic items, with at least one Halloween skin, spray, highlight intro, emote, victory pose, player icon, and voice line.
The Halloween Loot Boxes for "Overwatch" may also include credits that gamers can use to unlock other amazing Halloween Terror event items. Gamers are encouraged to set out trick or treating for as much as 100 new items for "Overwatch." In the event that gamers receive an item that they already have, they would receive coins instead.
IGN reports that some fans are skeptical about the listing thanks to the skull design on the candy in the background of the listing. The design is of the character Sombra, who has been rumored to be the next hero in "Overwatch." However, her reveal isn't supposed to come for another 10 days, given that she's part of a separate "Overwatch" ARG.
Fans who are looking forward to the "Overwatch" Halloween Terror event on November 1 should know that it will only run until November 11. It seems that the event will follow the format of the Summer Games, featuring themed items that are available for just a short period of time.
To keep up to date with "Overwatch" and the highly anticipated Halloween Terror event, check back and comment below on what you'd like to see in the upcoming Halloween Loot Boxes, available beginning November 1 at 4 p.m.

I have no idea where you're quoting from. Is that Blizzard?

The Xbox store right now says Halloween boxes can be purchased until November 1. It'd be bizarre to only allow until the event begins.

I got a unique spray and its duplicate in the same box. WTF.

I had the same thing happen to me, but with an epic victory pose. "Double purple! All right! ...Say what?!"
I've also gotten legendary currency twice now in the last couple weeks. I feel like currency just shouldn't be a thing. The only way to get currency should be from duplicates and I'd be perfectly fine with that, since the number of duplicates you receive just steadily increases as you unlock more stuff.

Also, I had this happen to me last night:

I would agree with that if the amount of currency you got from duplicates wasn't insultingly small.

Also I hit platinum last night. Woooo

I agree that it is insultingly small.
However, by the time you have acquired 80%+ of all the unlocks, you're basically getting 3-4 currency drops per loot box, so you'll be raking in that duplicates currency.
Personally, my competitive store is hovering right under 1800. And I might push for 2k if only they hadn't decided to end the Diablo season 2wks early just so they could do some sort of convention tie-in.

5c each is not raking it in.

Actual currency drops:
  • Common - 15 coins
  • Rare - 50 coins
  • Epic - 150 coins
  • Legendary - 500 coins
Duplicate item currency values:
  • Common - 5 coins
  • Rare - 15 coins
  • Epic - 50 coins
  • Legendary - 200 coins

What they should do is increase the duplicate currency rate to match the actual currency drop rates, then get rid of currency drops.

I feel like 1/3 is ok.
That way it's still a "struggle" to get those last missing drops.
Most RPGs like to give you only 1/10 sale value. 1/3 is a much better exchange rate.

I'm still grumpy that special event loot can't be bought with currency. That, more than anything imo, makes it worth less (not worthless just worth less).

Now I believe special loot SHOULD give you full value. That's your reward for getting stuck with a special you already have.
One wonders what you'll do with currency when you've unlocked all the everythings, though.

Also, if you look at the skill rating trends of me, Gas, Terrik, and Snuffles as of yesterday, it makes Gas's climb to platinum more wonderous. ;)

They all look like gobbledygook because they don't start on the same day and don't update at the same intervals >_<

Well, Terrik's went really weird for some reason, but the rest are still pretty valid.

Snuffles and I suffered the most though.
