Which all just goes to prove people need to look further than their noses are long (to badly mangle a Dutch proverb). Belgium, France, Germany - all semi-socialized health care systems, all with higher average standards than the USA, none have such outrageous waiting lists. Seriously, Squidley would probably get her MRI faster if she flew a plane here and asked :p
Except, meanwhile, 5 days ago...

MOTHER-FUCKING TITTY COCKSUCKER-damn PS3 console got corrupted again. Am I DOOMED to go without completing Arkham City 100 percent, as well as never having a little brother whom when he comes over to LEARN his GTA-5 was sadly deleted goes-"DAMMIT!" in a blind rage, as video games are literally the only thing that actually makes him angry for some reason.

Can it be saved?

There is a factory shortage of one of my prescriptions :(

It's the one I use that helps to suppress how bad my hives etc get.

That's just mean right?

??

Of all the stuff I'm taking, this is the least exciting. I didn't think it would be a big deal a few days ago when they told me...I was wrong lol.

And I'm mean when I'm itchy.

Squidleybits - Many pharmacy benefit companies here in the US, including the one my insurance through the state uses, buy their drugs from Canadian pharma companies.

Moving house is slowly getting nearer...House *should* be our in 3 or 4 weeks' time...Old owners still haven't vacated, still don't have an exact date they'll be leaving, still don't know exactly what they're taking and what they're leaving behind.
Look, I don't mind that you're sort of free-floating around and enjoying it and not feeling any pressure, but I have to get parking permits, get enough people together, plan everything out, inform the postal office banks, utilities, my plumber, the floor guy, the door guy, the internet company, my employer, and all that, and a LOT of them demand information 3 weeks ahead. And i'm starting my new job in just 4 weeks' time so if it isn't all done by then I'm kind of fucked and GAH WORK WITH ME HERE.

I know it'll all be fine eventually, but God....When I came by to measure the walls and ceilings they were surprised 'cause "why bother? The furniture'll fit, or it won't". :Leyla:

Heavy wind event that lasted over 12 hours. Lost power at 1am. There's nothing like waking up in a panic because the CPAP machine quits running, and now you are choking....

They have battery for extended run, don't they? At least enough to get you through the blips?

Youtube's traffic analysis gets more useless with every day. I got a sudden spike of about 400 views in one day on one video, but youtube won't give me a referral URL. It said about 150 of them came from twitter and the rest came from youtube. As in, basically, someone linked my video, but I'll be damned if I know who or where.

When you just throw on leggings and T shirt to pick up your daughter from school and then you blow out tire and need a tow and now people will see you in public.

Ohhhh notheydon't. It's exactly that - CPAP machine suddenly stops working. Or, as is usually in my case, my cat just jumped down off the nightstand and hit the off button with her paw as she did so.

That was more for the blown tire and the tow. I don't love looking schlubbly in public, but that tire/tow would drive me insane even if I was dressed to the nine's.

Are they still trying to push that ridiculous bullshit about community content managers?

No. If your power is unreliable they recommend a UPS, but they also have battery packs you can buy if you don't mind spending a whole lot of money. Some users build their own backup systems because the UPSs typically beep loudly and wake them anyway.

I've got a small 12v battery and inverter for power outages to run mine, though due to power consumption I leave out the humidifier if I'm using it.

But the waking up when it turns off is pretty startling, because you are usually a little disoriented and can't immediately understand why you feel like you're suffocating.

You aren't, though, the masks always have venting so you have access to fresh air, but it's still limited, and you do still end up rebreathing some of your previous exhale through the tubing, so the CO2 concentration still increases and your brain sends the adrenaline surge to demand air with lower CO2.

Your body doesn't actually measure oxygen level, it wants to see low CO2 levels. This is one reason why CO poisoning is so bad, it prevents oxygen absorption, but since the CO2 level never increases you don't realize you are suffocating, you just get sleepy.

Sooooo.... anyway, long roundabout answer for "no, these expensive medical devices do not contain any power backup capability."

I learned this from reading Larry Niven's "The Flight of the Horse." In his alternate future, humans need the higher levels of CO2 in the atmosphere in order to trigger their autonomic nervous system's respiration.

I know I say this often but I hate hives!

I hate taking showers now too. My arms and legs are covered in hives and my face looks like I've had one of those fancy chemical peels. It feels like it's burning. It's a hot mess.

I'm in our room with the fan on to make sure I don't over heat and get all sweaty because guess what else triggers this mess now?

That doesn't make sense. If it's the levels in the blood, then it doesn't matter what's in the atmosphere. And given that there are pure-oxygen treatments for both medical and doping performance optimization for athletes, I think that novel's idea doesn't hold up.

His assertion is that, in the future, the CO2 concentration of our atmosphere would be higher. So high, in fact, that while modern organisms would pass out from the elevated concentration, a being of that (polluted) time transported back to ours would not be able to breathe in our incredibly oxygen-rich atmosphere. Something about a ganglion in one's armpit that reacts to CO2, I believe.
Ah, found it:
Svetz was at the far end of two thousand years of adaptation to air rich [4%] in CO2. It takes a concentration of carbon dioxide to trigger the autonomic nerves in the lymph glands in a man's left armpit. Svetz had fainted because he wasn't breathing. So now he wore a balloon [to filter the air]

I was aware of that condition, but had not drawn the conclusion that one's own body fluids could trigger it.
I asked my doctor why I was getting the attacks randomly without having taken a shower just before and he said that sweating can do it. I get hives up to my elbows when I do dishes as well.

I've had this problem off and on for more than 20 years and it is getting progressively worse over time. This is the first time in my adult life that I haven't been taking anti-inflammatories and I don't think it's a coincidence that it got so much worse since then. It took over an hour for my face to settle down tonight.

The brutal part is that I have to shower and in order to I need to take pre-shower Benadryl pills and post shower spray Benadryl. It always seems to get way worse when I'm in a hurry so I either have to set aside several hours to shower and recover or be a bit late to wherever I'm going. Which stresses me out. Which makes get all over heated and sweaty....

This is sounding pretty whiney :(. Sorry guys.

That sounds pretty fucking awful, and I think you can whine about it as long as you want.

I decided to try to clean off my desk today, and now the floor of this room is a complete disaster and I'm wondering how in the fuck I fit this much crap all over my desk.
