I've been saying for years that today's Image publishes more QUALITY books than Marvel and DC combined. They evolved and moved away from their edgy crap long ago. 90s throwback schlock like Spawn and Savage Dragon (both STILL being published today) pale in comparison to Walking Dead, Saga, Chew, Elephantmen, The Fade Out, Lazarus, etc.
Since the good buzz has started, I've been avoiding any Wonder Woman reviews because I don't want to be spoiled. But at this point, I'm buying my ticket in advance and will be there this weekend. It's more than just seeing a movie at this point.
I've waited for this close to 34 years, and I was so worried it wouldn't be worth the wait in the current DCCU climate.
I want both DC and Marvel to see where my money is going.
I want to stop hearing the "women/girls can't..." lead blockbusters/care about comics/sell tickets, etc. bullshit I've heard my whole life. (And no, one movie won't stop that over-night.)
For 2 1/2 hours, I want to be that little girl in her Wonder Woman underoos again.
I mean, the theme song predicted this back in the 70's, right?:
"Now the world is ready for you/
and the wonders you can do...
All our hopes are pinned upon you/
And the magic that you do."

True, but I really thought they did something great with Gen13 back in the day. Once they stopped trying to find ways to rip Fairchild's clothes and use Rainmaker's bisexuality for the typical "male gaze" audience (basically once they got rid of J. Scott Campbell), it was a really fun comic. It was pretty light-hearted compared to a lot of the 90's Image titles, and was one of the few comic teams under any publisher that was women-lead and women-majority while still being co-ed.

That's ANOTHER title that should have been on that google... sounds to me like google's dropping the ball. I mean, I've not read Gen 13 per se, but I have at least heard of them.
To be fair, Wildstorm which was the Jim Lee imprint that put out Gen13 was bought by DC years ago.

That happened in 1998, correct? It's a fair point, but I do remember... uh... seeing Caitlin Fairchild-related media on certain BBSes I used back in high school... so I still *should* have remembered it as being connected with Image.
They need to prep their keyboards for being pissy in case Aquaman gets well-received when the director isn't white.
As for Wonder Woman, no reviews, just going whichever day this weekend my wife isn't busy. Wish it could be opening night, but I know she'll be too tired after work Friday.
I'm not really looking for it to save the DCEU. Maybe that'd be a nice side effect, but really I want the same thing I want almost every time I go to the movies--to see a good movie.
Missed this from last page, but yes. There are people who go to the comic store, get their monthly Saga, and don't come back until the next one.
I haven't started it yet despite having volume 1 for a few months now; it seems addicting and I'm wary of reading one book unless I'm ready to splurge on the rest like I did with East of West.

I really hope it works out for you. I really do. As a kid, Kati used to run around the house in a towel yelling the words to the theme, except that all she could remember was "Wonder Womann!!" over and over again. I don't doubt she wants to see it as well, and for similar reasons.

I'd argue that Alamo's claim to fame is doing themed events for movies, so they would be "just another movie theater" by NOT having a Girl Power event for Wonder Woman.
Also, their The English Patient tea party discriminates against people who don't like tea. Those monsters.

But unless someone makes a big stink about it and demonstrates how they were injured by it, it's unlikely anyone will prosecute.
