[Movies] The DC Cinematic Universe - The David Zazlav Dumpster Fire.

Just got back from it. Liked it quite a lot. Gal Gadot is a great Wonder Woman, and the rest of the cast were competent as well. The action was great, the development of Diana's character was great, and when the electric guitar started up when she began kicking ass I swear I wept a tear of joy.

There are some plot holes and stuff I wish could've been explained a bit better, but on the whole I'm very satisfied with this movie.

Probably a bunch of people were holding their breath after the last batch of DC garbage. Once they got the "all clear", they went to check it out.

So happy her theme is in the movie. I'd check out other score bits, but since noticing John Williams has a habit of spoiling the movie in the titles of his score tracks, I try to avoid seeing that stuff until after the movie.
Hey, did you know there's (sorta) a music video for that song?

This version's a little heavier, too. And sweatier.

Junkie XL has done a bunch of the framework for scoring Justice League, but like Zack Snyder he needs to leave the project early, albeit not for tragic reasons in this case (scoring Tomb Raider).

Danny Elfman will take over from here.

The music is kind of similar, granted (albeit in angry, guttural german), but trust me, there's not near enough fire, semen, torture, and fiery semen.

Rammstein's kind of like... GWAR got tired of wearing costumes and took ecstasy laced with viagra.

Elfman's good, I like Elfman.

Elfman is good when he's not plagiarizing Elfman.
He should be working with Junkie XL's themes and making a score out of them for the new and recut material that Whedon is doing right now. So I don't think we have to worry.

... though I'd kinda love it if he snuck in the Batman theme from the Burton movies :p.

Yeah, I figured you'd be one of the first to show up if I put up the bhamv signal. It's right up your alley.

I'd just like you to know I've been on a Tina Guo binge thanks to you.

I don't even think she's that attractive, as far as Asian women go. She just plays music I like, I guess.

I was also surprised how much she's done. I don't think I'd even heard of her until this.

So, Wonder Woman. Wow. I wouldn't call it the best superhero movie or even a great one. Chris Pine's appropriate last name lives up to his wooden acting. The third act and villains were disappointing.

But Gal Gadot? Phenomenal.
The cinematography? Outstanding.
And the entire trenches scene? I was in awe. THAT is how you do slow motion. THAT is how you show a superhero who cares about lives. I'd argue that scene ranks up there with the helicopter rescue in Superman: The Movie.

So yeah, very happy I got to see it, even if I have no plans to see any other DCEU film. It's fortunate that this was, at best, tangentially tied with the rest of the DCEU.

I feel like that's one of the strengths of Wonder Woman in the comics, and Thor on the Marvel side. Even if their respective company is sucking overall at the moment, they're usually able to keep a distance from that in one way or another by dealing with god-stuff.

The armadillo is probably Zeus..... that guy is always turning into something; a swan, an eagle. a shower of gold; whatever is gonna get him laid.
