My easily-stressed and panic attack-prone Wife text: I'm on the train and people are pissing me off, so I'm gonna start shit
Me:
This is the sort of tragedy that is endemic to public transportation, and a large part of why it should be abolished as an institution.

Other option is to take the parking lot they pretend is an interstate. :p

I think all those times of minding her own business and still being shit on have finally boiled over. I'm not sure she actually said or did anything though. I have a hard time telling intent vs vent some days. Especially running on four hours of sleep.

That's why this is in the random thread instead of a rant thread. I don't want anyone getting the misconception that I have any idea what's going on.

Well, she's home and I found out what happened.

Long story short: group of middle-aged "I want to speak with your manager"-looking women were badmouthing two black kids who were sitting quietly across from them on the train. My wife got fed up, called them racist bitches, and told them to shut the fuck up. They did for a moment, and then one told her it was none of her business. My wife said "You made it my business by being so fucking loud. If you want to talk shit about people, go home and say it to your baby-daddies." The group of them didn't say anything after that and got off at the next stop. The two kids thanked my wife.

Aaaand then what I predicted would happen happened, the heat of the moment passed, and she realized people were staring at/talking about her, except not her usual paranoia but actually doing so because she made herself someone to be stared at/talked about, and so had to take her ... I don't know what they are. Anti-panic attack pill? So that's gonna make tonight fun for me, but I can't really get on her case about it.

So that happened. :waves:

Message for your wife...

:D

She is.

It's just my selfish side worries about her. There were three men like her out west a month or two ago, and now two of them are dead. But she's not really one who thinks about that stuff and I'm not going to fill her head with doubt.

Not like she'd listen anyway :p.

@ZeroEsc, never seen Police Academy? Hooks was the soft-spoken small lady who, when push came to shove, had one of the best command voices out of the crew of misfits.

Haven't seen it, but now I know! Thanks.

Also, the alerting a user by name doesn't work with the comma attached.
Noted, thanks!

Also, you should really... REALLY check out the movies. The first one is still the best, IMO, but I have the complete set, including the awful Mission to Moscow, and they're all worth a view at least, if only for pop culture references.

For example, I've been (independently) called Tackleberry at three different jobs...

I've watched the third one, but don't remember it too well. I should check out the first one at least, though. I try to see the classics.

Then again, I'm the guy who's owned The Godfather on DVD for 11 years and still hasn't watched it >_<.

Still haven't seen any of those. Or GoodFellas. Or Scarface. Or any of the Rambos. Or the Rocky's...
Rocky is a legit good movie that shows both the acting and writing talents of Sylvester Stallone. He was nearly homeless when he wrote the screenplay, and that sort of desperation translates really well into the story and performance.

The first one is hilarious, the second was okay... and after that they turned to shit.
