Wait. That plodding mess is only two and a half hours!?Star Trek: The Motion Picture is a great 30 minute episode told in a two and a half hour movie.
Which feels like a four hour movie.
I was sure it was like 15 hours long.Star Trek: The Motion Picture is a great 30 minute episode told in a two and a half hour movie.
Which feels like a four hour movie.
I was surprised myself when I checked.Wait. That plodding mess is only two and a half hours!?
Goddammit CBS. The anthology style would've been awesome.http://collider.com/star-trek-discovery-original-vision-bryan-fuller/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=collidersocial/#images
My anti-hype train is screeching backwards at, pun intended, warp speed.
It never even occurred to me that an anthology style could be used for Star Trek, but now that I've heard of it, I agree that it would've been amazing. There are so many ships, so many captains and crews, so many planets, so many species, so many space stations, so many stories in the Star Trek universe... an anthology series could've explored so many of them.Goddammit CBS. The anthology style would've been awesome.
Hmm. Well, whatever it was, it appears to have restored its balance on its own. What's to explain @PatrThom?
The complains I've seen have been that, and about her hair. Basically, the fans don't like that a woman of color was cast in the role. But she's not paintbucket white with a black spot over her eye!

I mean, I made my post satirically, because I knew there'd be neckbeards going "BUT SHE'S NOT WHITE REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE", but...That tweet. It's funny how the people who comment that they're just innocently concerned about the accuracy of the film stick their fingers in their ears for all the Negasonic Teenage Warhead comments.
And the whining would've been tremendous then too.I'm still sad we're not getting Kiera Knightly as Cable. After DP mentioned that after the credits, I thought it'd be a legitimately awesome and hilarious casting. Especially for the meta jokes.
I think that was pretty much the pitch for the original series.Imagine hearing a pitch that basically says "It's like Twilight Zone, Outer Limits, or Tales From the Crypt...but with Star Trek."
Wasn't NTW created just so she could be killed by Sentinels in the Genosha massacre thing?Because NTW was a shit character in the comics based on a tiresome idea poorly executed, and the DP movie at least made her minimally palatable, I'd hazard to guess.
I mean, really, comic-NTW would have served admirably as the poster child for why "normal people don't read comic books."
My memory isn't that good. If you think so, I'll believe you.Wasn't NTW created just so she could be killed by Sentinels in the Genosha massacre thing?
Pretty much, yeah. She was introduced and killed within pages.Wasn't NTW created just so she could be killed by Sentinels in the Genosha massacre thing?
And then they brought her back in some other storyline with different powers. A couple times.Pretty much, yeah. She was introduced and killed within pages.
I wondered if they'd try that, since it's very clearly not sticking with the first book.My understanding of the criticism is that it seems they tried to stuff scenes from all 7 books into one movie. Designed by committee has been thrown around a lot regarding it.
