Steam shortcuts are actually URL files. They usually contain an address like "steam://rungameid/3544734", but if something's gone wrong with how your computer checks URLs it might not know that the "steam" protocol goes to the steam browser.
I found the fix: when choosing an app, choose open with "internet browser." I set that to the default and all the icons returned the normal.
Are you running windows 10? I've noticed a lot of people complaining about their steam shortcuts getting messed up by windows updates.
I am. Seems that new Creator Update did a number on things.
Did you choose to open the link with Dead Rising's executable when you first were given the option? That would explain why they all changed to Dead Rising, it was associating all Steam URLs with that program and getting very confused.
Reminds me of Console Peasant Quotes from Bullet Barry (which, despite the name, also highlights elitist PC quotes as well. He tried renaming the series "Fanti-consumer quotes" but I'm assuming not enough people understood the portmanteau of Fan and Anti-consumer). I do like that Jim isn't bothering to explain why each comment is wrong. One thing that keeps me from fully enjoying Barry's videos is that he over-explains the joke.

I don't play many steam games that use a controller, but when I do, I love that I can do so on my TV while sitting on the couch.
I did the same, except my router is 5 feet from the Link (the only cable access point is in the living room, so all our PCs are on wireless cards because I can't drill into this house). It's faaaantastic. Specially fond of running Kodi as a steam app.
My Dad helped me run Cat 6 throughout my house within a month of getting it. The only reason there's a wireless repeater in my entertainment room is for the Chromecast. Everything else that can be on the wire, is on the wire. And I have Gigabit Fibre to the house.
Would love to do both of those here (working from home on the wi-fi is inconvenient at times, and extra speed never hurts). Those aren't one of the common "licensable" engines, AFAIK. Unity, Unreal, and CryEngine are all meant to be go-to engines for licensing, whereas the other ones are in-house proprietary engines.
Yeah, I had 2 that were just taking up space. And since it's a coop game and Dei already had a copy, I figured you'd play it. Then I randomized my friend list and gave the other to someone else. Don't remember who, though. Stupid old guy memory.
