What are you playing?

@Null it needed to be done.

I got a copy of Monster Hunter Ultimate 3 on the eShop for our son as well and he keeps signing us up for these ridiculously hard multiplayer quests at the Tavern that we fail horribly over and over. Then he gets mad at me for not one shotting everything lol.

Can you play the Moga Village quests multi player as well? I think it's a much better place to start. I've done most of them solo and they're much more manageable.

I need to try a new weapon though. My dual blades don't seem to be reaching anything that tall.

For some reason I'm suffering from restart-itis in Divinity: Original Sin 2. I've just started my third new game. My first one I abandoned soon after leaving the first island. My second one I've abandoned after exploring the graveyard in the second island. It's not that I have problems with my build or anything, I know there's a respec mirror on the ship. I just get this urge to replay the first part of the game again, and maybe do things better this time. I've even kept the same companions each time, so I can eventually see their storylines through. Though I've experimented with their builds somewhat, for example Fane is a backstabbing rogue in my latest game.

League of Legends

My best friend is OBSESSED with this game and has been bugging me to try it with her. Played a couple of bot matches with her tonight and...meh? The powers my character used were cool (some kind of water tentacle attacks?), but I just didn't care for the game. I doubt it's something I'll get into.

I'm slowly making some progress on Monster Hunter Ultimate 3. It's so far from being a Pokémon game that I needed a week to learn how to play it lol.

I just finished the first big solo boss hunt. Or at least I think it was. It was hard, but not impossible. I completed it the first time I tried. I brought a bunch of potions and supplies and did my best to attack as much as possible without getting trampled. In solo, you can actually see where it runs even without the paint ball. I haven't figured out how to paint ball the monsters yet. Solo was way easier than multiplayer. I'm wondering if the multiplayer quests are set at a difficulty for four players automatically because the supply chests have four of everything. My son and I tried a bunch today and we failed horribly because no matter how much we attacked the bosses, there was only so long we could fight before we were killed.

That or having him screaming in my ear "OH MY GOD IT'S KILLING ME!!!!!!" isn't good for my concentration.

Like most online games, the community can get really fucking toxic, so it's probably for the best.

In addition to what Dei said (do yourself a favor and NEVER play League with anybody you don't know from outside the game), the game isn't just about one character. It's a given you'll hit max level in under 20 minutes, and next game you'll do it all over again from zero. So, the idea is to build a stable of champions and improve your summoner's (that's you) build and whatnot. Because, if you do end up playing with other people, there will be games where your one "main" character might not be available for a number of reasons, or it might be that it isn't the one best suited to your team's composition. I myself played a lot of Heimerdinger, Gangplank, Rumble, Veigar, and Teemo, back in the day.

I mean, I know it looks like an RPG, but it is more like... a 5 on 5 sporting match with short term RPG elements. Plus, which champions are free rotates on a regular basis, and you have to "buy" them with in-game currency (that you can build up at a reasonable rate just by playing, fortunately) to keep them available to you when they're not on the week's champion lists.

So, it could also kinda have pokemon-ish "gotta catch em all" aspects, where you want to collect champions, and skins, etc.

The community is hella toxic though. Drove Pauline and I right back to Demigod, which is a MOBA I enjoy more anyway - only 10 or so champions in that one, but at least there's more than one map (way more than one)!

Throwing a paintball just means equipping that item and using it, same as a potion, only you have to be right up on the monster's ass, because your hunter isn't going to throw it all that far.

Multiplayer quests are geared for two players, so you getting more than that does make them easier. That said, there are some later bosses that are really meant to be killed only by a team of four, but you those shouldn't be an issue this early.

Heh, meanwhile I'm 3/4ths of the way through the game again in my solo playthrough, still absolutely AGOG at the amount of content the four of us missed on our initial playthrough. I'm level 19 already from all the additional quest experience, and every single combat encounter is laughably easy. #WorldMadeOfCardboard

If you're going to get into league, or back into league, wait until next month. They are removing a large barrier of entry, runes and rolling them into mysteries that everyone will have regardless of level. They are also removing level cap and will make it so you can unlock champs as you level up a la loot boxes from overwatch.

Part of the joy of league is finding champs that fit your playstyle. Few play similarly and free champs help to let you test them out before you buy them, which you never need to do with actual money. Just spend the free currency you get or use the ones you will unlock come mid November when they revamp levelling.

I think I'm the only one on the boards that's stuck with the game out in spite of the admittedly terrible community. It has improved over the years, new honor system and liberal bans for shitty behavior has helped, but conversely this is the worst time to play cause worlds is going on and the year long season is ending soon and people tend to A. get anxious they aren't gonna get the rank they want or feel they deserve whether they're playing ranked or normals or B. the population that comes back only when big events are on rarely care about their account standing and tend to be bigger twats I find.

I mostly don't play the standard map Summoners Rift and stick to ARAM because the games are quicker and mostly just teamfighting as opposed to laning for 10 minutes vs minions. The draw back is you cant pick who you want to play in ARAM, all random all mid. It's hard to practice champs you like when you can't pick who you're gonna be. Even harder when you own everyone and your champ pool it pulls from is now massive like mine.

I'd be happy to play with anyone because yes the game is much better with one less random. Summoner's name is Knightoff.

I'm guessing you played Illoai based off your water tentacles comment. She's kinda tough for a starting character. Many champs will feel terrible until you figure out their combos and they click. I hated Gangplank, Jayce, Teemo, Syndra and many others until they clicked and now they are what I'd consider mains. It takes time to get into but is fun if you can find a good stable of people to play with and champs you enjoy.

That might support my theory then that he's not actually unsheathimg his weapon often. It was hard when I did it solo, but I did it on my first try and without dying.

All of the one star multiplayer hunting quests that he signed us up for were hot messes. We died over and over and it didn't seem like we were hurting the monster. I could tell when the Giant Jaggi was hurt because he started walking funny and breathing funny (puffs of smoke?).

The nice part is that with the materials I got from him, a new class or armour is available which I am definitely crafting...after my weapon upgrades of course.

Most monsters have a weakness that can be exploited, and also stuff they're strong against. Look at what armor made from their body parts does for you--thats what it does for them. So if an armor gives you extra defense to lightning, that monster is strong to lightning.

So it's possible he's using a weapon with an elemental aspect that the monster is strong against.

He has his beginner weapon still. He needed some weird bug to upgrade it. I found them today for him so he’s going to be super happy :)

I also have also forged a new weapon and upgraded it and have 4/5 new armour pieces. It’s probably super cheap, but I’m going on the multiplayer 1 star “tours”and gathering materials for us. It’s doesmt work for stuff like giant Jaggi claws etc but you can get higher level ores and bugs that way. My new weapon is full of +attack decorations and my last Giant Jaggi kill was pretty quick. It’s nice to see it get noticeably quicker.

Ok, so I've been immersed in Borderlands lately.
And my best friend has been this guy:

I know I talked about a repeater that was a similar lead firehose, but this has even that beat, and by double. I didn't replace it until I hit level 38 and found another x4 one that does 50% more damage. I referred to it as my Second Wind machine. When I'm down, I just point in the direction of the nearest enemy and hold down the button and it'll kill something out there. Seriously, this thing almost single-handedly took down the Hive. All I did was feed it bullets, and by then I had a lot of them. It's like a shotgun on continuous fire.

One minor rant, though. I accidentally sold one of my backpack upgrades, dammit, and didn't realized until after I'd left the game (and therefore couldn't buy it back from the shop). I just want to take a moment to say that having to remember to "open" them is...dumb. Now I'm stuck at 39 and have to hope I get one in the second playthrough (once I finish all the quests in the first one) so I can get the "42 inventory slots" achievement.

The first time I got a backpack upgrade I was like woohoo, and then it took me a long time to realize I had to actually activate it in my inventory to apply it. Dafuq kinda shitty game design is that?

On the one hand, if you receive an item as a reward and you're out of backpack space, it still gets put into your inventory anyway (you're just "over" for a while), which I appreciate.
On the other hand...yeah.

Also I wanted to point out something else. The game goes to great lengths to tell you how gritty and lawless everything is, and how crazy all the people are (even you!). When Brick reloads his weapon, you can even see the dirt under his nails, etc. But every time you get into a vehicle, there's always the "zzzwip!" sound of the driver putting on his/her seat belt. "When I'm out on the dry lake bed, dodging drifters and disrupting patrols, I never forget to wear my seat belt for safety." - (/Brick PSA) -- Hilarious!

I didn't interpret that noise as a seatbelt. Huh.

It even ends with a *click*.
What did you think? That he was driving stick?

Also there's the point where the VA reading Moxxi's lines actually reads the words "Tiger growl" out loud instead of what was probably supposed to be interpreted as "Rowr!"

I just thought it was "future engine noise" or some shit, I guess. But it does explain how I stay in the driver's seat all the times I go inverted in midair.

I just bought Battlechasers (recommended by Frank) and The Witcher III. Yes, I've played Witcher before, but I had bought it on another terrible platform rather than Steam so I never remember to play it. So I spent the $19 and got it. (I actually used money from my Steam wallet so the two games together cost me $0.)

Full Throttle

This game remains one of my all time favourites. Though I fully agree with the well-deserved criticisms against it, like its shortness. It only took me 3 hours to finish. But mind you, I know that game like the back of my hand. And yeah, the arcade sections are more annoying than anything. And there's the infuriating pixel hunt puzzle.

Don't care. It's still one of my all-time favourites.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 -

I'm pleasantly surprised to find that the game apparently noticed how uber I am and has cranked up all the encounters in the last main chapter to be more level appropriate. I entered at level 19, and the easy/minor encounters are all level 18, and the moderate ones are 19 and the tough ones are 20 (maybe higher, too, I haven't found them all yet). I was kinda worried that breezing through too easily would leave me bored, but I already had to reload after a one-round TPW encounter... so that's apparently off the table.

I'm kinda worried about
how the encounter with the Doctor is going to play out, now, though, since from what I hear they "fixed" the ability to cheese him before he transforms, and since Lohse is in my party I have to beat him in 3 rounds or she gets *permanently* possessed.

Well don't keep us in suspense - how did it taste? I'm guessing it tastes like the sound of Nathan Fillion's voice & the smell of a new book.
You don't remember? They added a bittering agent to the plastic to make it taste bad, specifically so kids wouldn't put the sd-card sized cartridges in their mouths and end up choking on them.

See the good thing about having a terrible memory is that by tomorrow I'll have forgotten all about this embarrassment.

Remember how I said I suck at Mario games? That probably means I shouldn't be playing Super Mario Odyssey on Halloween while my front door is open and little kids are randomly coming to the door and can hear everything I say.
