oh god, I hated the guy enough for being a hypocrite.Desert Storm Vet, here. You're friends remind me of this guy and several of my workmates.
Spoiler for size
Jingoistic moron sitting on the american flag on the ground, while drinking beer through a straw
THROUGH A GODDAMNED STRAW!
Also a former Green Beret and NFL suggested kneeling as opposed to sitting.
He's already a Jets fan.I need to take his man card away.
Yeah, that's the other half of my irritation with them. They're not really concerned about respecting the flag or the anthem, or the soldiers.Desert Storm Vet, here. You're friends remind me of this guy and several of my workmates.
A master's would likely help me some, but not an amazing amount. I don't think I'll be working at my current translation company for the rest of my life, so when I do change jobs, I'll need to keep in mind that there are some companies that use degrees to whittle down the list of candidates. I'm sure my professional skills and work experience would be enough once I'm in, but I may need that degree just to get in the door.Would a Master's help you at this point? It sounds like you're doing well. Would a lack of a Master's prevent you from moving up in a company? They don't always help. However, I applaud the willingness to help your wife achieve her goals. I give you a husbandly brofist. I would love to live in Vancouver. I think it's my favorite city that I have visited.

As for my wife, it's actually a bit funny. She's a teacher at a public school, and in the public school system in Taiwan, your pay is adjusted based on a number of factors, including performance evaluations, years of experience, and your highest degree. So, basically, my wife will get a raise for getting an MA. However, we've calculated how much more she'll be earning per year and compared it to how much she'll be spending in tuition and living costs, and it turns out an MA from a British university will pay for itself in approximately 25 to 30 years. That is to say, approximately when she retires.
... I was not expecting to end up having an existential crisis when I posted my whine.*Sigh*
Look, you always need to invest in the future. Education is never a poor bet.
I mean, sure, you might currently have that mortgage to worry about. Perhaps some student loans on top of that. In a couple of years you might hear the pit-patter of tiny feet, which to your ears can sound suspiciously much like money dropping down a well. And there may be a college fund or two to worry about soon after.
But that is only a temporary condition. I a few decades, you may anyway have paid off all your loans, your kids may be all grown up and moved out of the house and making a life for themselves, you will have had a career's worth of salary raises and promotions, and you might actually not need all that much money anymore.
But just think about how much happier you will be when your retirement benefit is a couple of bucks higher than it would be otherwise.
If somebody with First Aid (or better) experience could please post for how long it should be before his wrist should get examined by a doctor to make sure he doesn't have a fracture.Fell with the bike on the way to work this morning
Nothing too serious, but my pants are ruined, my knee's bleeding through, and my wrist hurts like a female dog. Owwie.
https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/broken-wrist-broken-hand/symptoms-causes/syc-20353169my wrist hurts like a female dog. Owwie.
Your hands are worth some extra attention.Symptoms
A broken wrist or broken hand might cause these signs and symptoms:
When to call a doctor
- Severe pain that might worsen when gripping or squeezing or moving your hand or wrist
- Swelling
- Tenderness
- Bruising
- Obvious deformity, such as a bent wrist or crooked finger
- Stiffness or inability to move your fingers or thumb
- Numbness in your hand or fingers
If you think you might have a broken wrist or hand, see a doctor immediately, especially if you have numbness, swelling or trouble moving your fingers. A delay in diagnosis and treatment can lead to poor healing, decreased range of motion and decreased grip strength.
Sounds like you should have someone with medical training look at it.Thanks, but I'm pretty sure there's nothing broken. I do, however, have a cyst in the joint (about 1 inch x half an inch x half an inch), which hurts when I put pressure on it anyway, and that seems to have been impacted - the..."bobble" you could see on my wrist is now in a different spot. Though I don't know how much of a problem that is, really, it's not like it matters whdere exactly the cyst is pushing on tendons and nerves, after all.

A friend of mine who is also a former friend of crazy lady thinks that she’s trying to be friends again with me. My friend didn’t hear how our last conversation went and how ugly and mean crazy lady was to me though. She said some terrible things about me and then about my friends in the neighborhood as well, but I never shared them in detail with them because I saw no need to make the situation any worse than it was at the time and I didn’t want to hurt my friends.I'm still too sick to eat and I'm so sick that I had to cancel my doctor's appointment this morning and I can hardly move without wanting to puke.
So, yes, crazy lady down the street who last spoke to me several years ago and was a total bitch when she did, today is a great day to send your awful little brats down to my house uninvited. Just peachy.
The reason she was so horrible to me? Because I wouldn't let her son sleepover at our place for our son's birthday party after he assaulted our son. I revoke his invite after the incident. Rude on my part? Probably. Necessary? Absolutely. I wasn't having that kid over so soon after that.
Yet here they were today and I had to look mean because I made them play outside because I was so sick.
I learned to type on and love cheap keyboards. It's stories like this that make me happy I never bothered to get used to the upscale models. I'm currently typing on a $16 logitech K360. Normally I pay half that for keyboards, but I didn't mind splurging a little for the wirelessI was hoping that my keyboard would miraculously recover overnight, but nope, if anything it's even worse. So here I type on a crappy Dell keyboard, and have to drop another 100 bux on a new Kinesis, hopefully to arrive monday.

I shared your philosophy until my wrists started killing me. I found the Kinesis freestyle keyboards are the easiest on my wrists and it really helped heal my RSI.I learned to type and and love cheap keyboards. That's the idea, yeah. I was astonished by how quickly I got used to the split key design. Even the regular ergo keyboards only helped so much. But being able to place the two halves ~9 inches apart and tilt them away from each other 15 degrees was like a miracle. I think I'm gonna splurge for the one with the 20" cord this time. I wonder if I can rig it so the halves attach to the arms of my chair.I like ergonomic keyboards, but I don't know if I could get used to using one that's split in two. I'm sure it's comfortable, though, since you can place them wherever you need to.
I spilled a fuckton, this time. I probably could have killed a water-resistant watch. So the outlook wasn't great. Basically a full 32 oz right smack dead center of the right hand keyboard module.I've spilled things on my mechanical keyboard and was able to save it, so expensive keyboards aren't always bad.
Kati recently requested (and got) a washable Logitech K310, but in her case it was because she hates a dirty keyboard and wanted one that’s easy to clean. Too bad they were discontinued in 2014.I spilled a fuckton, this time. I probably could have killed a water-resistant watch. So the outlook wasn't great. That's not silly at all. A pet is family, and you care for them as such. Two years ago my dog Molly, who I'd had since middle school, went through much the same thing. She had a brain tumor and started having seizures, but was too old to really do anything about it. I still miss her.My pupper had a seizure this morning - his second one in a month. After a vet visit, everything checked out okay, but if he has one more I have to take him to a specialist and it's likely cancer.
I know it's silly as he's just a dog, but I'm so sad. If you know anything about me, you know Fly is a huge part of my life. He was there when I had no one else. Literally. We've been through a lot and a part of me will die the day that he does. Which seems like it may be soon. :/
