And now we know why you were thrown out of the brothel.

... I think I might need this one explained to me.

Not that anyone here is obliged to explain their career choices or free time interests to me, after all it's none of my business, but... well.

American Airlines, failing the holidays again: Oops: American Airlines Accidentally Let Too Many Pilots Take Off For The Holidays

Booking error basically. Their internal system apparently just let anybody who requested time off take it. More info in the article about how they're desperately trying to get pilots back in to staff the flights, and how it (might) violate the union contract. And (as of right now) they haven't cancelled any of those flights. So probably more drama to come on this one!

Important part: If you have booked an American Airlines flight between the 17th and 31st of this month, you may want to see if you can make alternate arrangements, as there's no guarantee they'll have pilots for you right now, and odds are (IMO) that they'll probably only cancel them at the last minute.

My dad's a pilot and says the most likely scenario is that they'll have so many pilots lining up for the extra pay that nobody is going to notice any disruption.

I have no reason to dispute his expertise, but the wrinkles about the Union in the article itself raises questions about how they may act. So not that pilots would be unwilling for the extra pay, only that "Union reasons" may prevent as much of that as your father would predict. But I guess we'll see. I'm still glad to have that opinion out there. He's closer to it than any of us!

That's true. He's probably basing his opinion on what goes on in Delta. I'll send him this article and see what he thinks.

EDIT: Yeah and I see things have been tense between AA and its pilots. So hrm.

He said, "They should just have made the pilots rebid for December and cover the first few days of the Dec schedule in order to allow the system to process the bid. They certainly could/should do that. Not sure what APA rules are regarding that-- they have their own union which may say they can't rebid the monthly awards after they are published. Which, if they caught the error beforehand, they could have just made everyone rebid. Our awards come out the 18th of the month for the month ahead. So if there was ever a glitch like that, Delta would just make us all rebid as there would be plenty of time to do so. Meh if American airlines did this to themselves, well, their loss."

Reading the old Silver Age Flash comics gets weird. For example, in a lot of them Barry has...friends...OUTSIDE OF WORK AND SUPERHEROING?! WHEN DOES THAT EVER HAPPEN ANYMORE?!

Not all that often you hear about a new arcade OPENING these days, but where I live just got one. So, anybody in the College Station area (Cough @IronBrig4) might be interested in checking out NerdVana Vintage Arcade and Toys

We get a lot of the Arcade/Bars here in Columbus. Apparently they do killer buisness, being near OSU campus and on the bus line.

I wouldn't exactly call this place "near" the A&M campus, but hopfully they can get the capital together to move to Northgate or something, I'd really like to see this endeavor succeed.

There's a barcade in Philly, and one near Ginos that has a skee-ball game!
We've got something like 10 in the Columbus area, with seven of those being downtown and one of those six (Kingmakers) specializing in card/board games instead of Arcade or Pinball. If I had to pick, I'd say Brewcadia (On High St., right on bus line), 16-Bit Bar + Arcade (Go to Dirty Frank's next door for killer hotdogs), and Pins Mechanical (which has bowling and specializes in Pinball) are the best. Not sure why so many, really... though it's probably the booming brewery scene helping it out.

I'm going to get some of those briefcases with the foam liner cut to exactly match the contents made for random things. Like a whole one just for my toothbrush. Or with an individual socket for a PB&J sandwich and a banana for my lunch. Just to screw with people. Aw man, if I could have it hiss when I opened it, that would be even better. Ooo oo or individual sockets for all the components of a cold-cut sandwich, which I could then assemble like a sniper rifle at the breakroom table.

(I had to break out my Venture Bros bootlegs and find the exact episode and frame to screenshot for this).

You sound like some one who does not bring their own lunch very often. People who bring their lunches to work already do this.

...though the idea of you busting out a borescope to peer through the holes in a slice of Swiss cheese does make me giggle a little.
