The EPIC WIN Thread 3: SON OF EPIC

I got approved to start a biologic that suppresses the part of my immune system that controls allergic reactions and this will hopefully stop my $&@#% hives.

According to my allergy specialist, this was the next step for me ages ago, but she hesitated because I was already on other immune suppression medication. My hives aren’t getting any better and my water issues are severely impacting my quality of life so my allergy and arthritis specialist (who prescribes the other immune suppression meds) got together and discussed it and decided to let me try it.

What a relief! It may not sound like much to you all, but I want to be able to take a shower without it being a multi hour event ending in up to an hour of misery at the end.

From my point of view, it’s nice to read one of these stories that doesn’t end with “...and then a biotech company figured out how to make and patent it and then sued him to forcibly stop him from donating blood.”

"You... you patented my blood?"

"Well, we patented the specific biochemical composition of your blood, to be precise. But basically, yes."

"Am I... am I still allowed to donate it?"

"We can work out a deal for that, don't worry."

"What sort of deal?"

"Basically you can continue donating the blood as long as you specify it's our blood before and after every donation, and that the donation legally comes from us."

"But it's my blood!"

"Not any more."

Cross-posting from the thread about my wife's battle with breast cancer...

First treatment series is DONE! We have finished 13 weeks of weekly chemo.

Next Tuesday we have a 7:30am appointment for a full breast exam (ultrasound, biopsy, and mammogram) then a later appointment for a follow-up with her breast surgeon. Wednesday is an afternoon appointment with her Oncologist, and hopefully the first of the final 4 chemo infusions, there will be a 3 week break between each treatment, and they will be on Wednesday instead of Thursday.

Thats so 2014.
You tell that to my friend's orthodontics clinic that was getting rid of their waiting room PS4s....which by the way is the most boojee thing ever. Oh, I have to wait 15 minutes for my tooth appointment, here's 6 PS4s to choose from.

Hoping for the best for your family!
