I did the tactic of hanging out with different groups for as long as I could stand them. The stoners were the easiest to get along with; even though I did not do drugs.

I tried those. They taste like dick.
Bruce Wayne does all these things in the comics. Wayne Foundation is pretty much all about this, and one of the largest donors to Arkham Asylum to boot. Wayne Enterprises has programs in place for hiring ex-cons so they can better reintegrate into society instead of falling back into crime.
Bruce Wayne literally funds...
- Homeless shelters, with work programs for those who want to get out of the system.
- Half-way houses, with the same so folks can get out of the life.
- Orphanages and Foster Family/Adoption programs
- Troubled Children's Homes
- Scholarship programs for kids in both of those systems
- Schools in low income neighborhoods
- Low Income Healthcare options for certain parts of the city (like Skid Row), including mental health services
... and that's before you consider the aforementioned Wayne Enterprises ex-con friendly hiring policies and his continued Arkham Asylum donations (though I doubt he'd continue that if he knew what they actually DID there). That's not considering the "Batman visits" he gives to guys who legitimately want to get out but are having a hard time. That's not considering all the god damn fund raising Bruce does when he's not working ether of his two jobs OR the countless personal visits his does to ALL of these places to make sure everything is in working order.
It's a wonder Wayne Enterprises can stay in business!

A few of these "counseling sessions" with the right people at the right times can bring down an entire bad guy organization with minimal effort. It's like social Kyoshu-Jitsu.

Sure, he does them now, because that criticism of him is already decades old...
He's done it for ages. Hell even in Batman 66 he would use his wealth and influence as Bruce Wayne to better society, so it's not even a comics thing. Much like Cinema Sins that "joke" only works if you have no knowledge whatsoever of the subject. So I guess it's funny to someone whos only knowledge of Batman is a movie poster.
It's really not though.
