Gas Bandit's Political Thread V: The Vampire Likes Bats

538 going 80% (which is what it was this morning, I listen to the podcast) to 53% is very concerning. Sounds like turnout wasn’t good in place they were expecting.

I’m so, so tired. I’ll probably wake up to the hell of Scott Walker, too.

Well in 2016 I went to bed knowing we were heading to hell. In 2018 I'm only assuming. Let's see if I have the slightest ounce of self-control. Goodnight.

538 has swung back the other way now, with an 11 in 12 chance of democrats taking the house. No sense counting chickens and all that, right?

Edit: Dammit MD, ya ninja

Some stuff might not be known for sure until later this week thanks to suppression shenanigans.

They're trying to call our governor race with only 4% of precincts reporting. I'm going to bed and maybe something will be known for real in the morning.

Libertarian Neal Dikeman is giving a strong showing in the Texas Senate race, with a full 0.6% of reported votes so far (15% of precincts reporting), or 36,411 votes. This could be the big one for the Libertarians!

Two big firsts in Congressional elections: New York's Alexandira Ocasio-Cortez is the youngest woman ever elected to Congress, and Minnesota's Ilhan Omar is the first Somali-American and one of the first Muslim women to be elected to Congress, with Michigan's Rashida Tlaib.

In my state, Cuomo won reelection and thank fucking god. People are getting sick of him and I get it, I voted for Nixon, but it's so crucial that we have some protection from the Feds.

Looks like with 25% of precincts in Texas reporting, Cruz is up by 1.9%, 3,101,765 to Beto's 2,985,760, with a strong third from Libertarian Neil Dikeman's 39,600.

With 73% reporting, Leonard Lance and Tom Malinowski in my home district of NJ-7 are in a dead heat, Lance with 101,487 and Malinowski with 100,644.

In a race that was two drug pushers flinging shit at each other about it from opposite corners, the lesser of two evils won. Mojo Manchin wins a second term in the Senate. Nothing of value was gained.

Huh. What I've seen is that the Democrats have flipped 13 of the 23 House seats they needed to take control. Virginia 10, Florida 27, Pennsylvania 5, Colorado 6, PA 17, FL 26, Kansas 3 - won by openly gay Native American former MMA fighter Sharice Davids, New Jersey 11, Minnesota 3, VA 2, NY 11, PA 6, TX 23.

My post was a joke making fun of Fox News.

Hey it looks like Iowa is voting in Steve King again, so we have that much. /s

Fucking America, man. I guess we really are as terrible as the world thinks. Sorry, world.

Democrats are gonna end up with a +9 win in terms of actual votes. It's just that the country has always been rigged to give the worst people a larger say.

Only things this means is that no bills will be passed in the next 2 years. But the Senate will still be able to act with impunity when it comes to judicial appointments.

According to 538 a few minutes ago: "in the 4th District, J.D. Scholten is leading Rep. Steve King 51 percent to 47 percent. "

With 79% Malinowski has taken the lead by a sliver, less than 400 votes between he and Leonard Lance for NJ-7.

Colorado has elected the first openly gay state governor, and we're passing amendments to make our Congressional districts drawn by a bipartisan committee. Yay!

With 96% of precincts reporting, Malinowski is now ahead by 1.4%, 132,850 to 129,284 and is the predicted winner.

Leonard Lance was a long-term incumbent Republican and was until very recently considered a lock for the GOP. This is a big win.
