I heard about that tonight and it'll be worth breaking out the 'ol headset. The problem is, it'll be REALLY difficult to control, I'll bet. But we'll see.

So, one huge con with the WMR headsets: if you happen to break a controller, you're shit out of luck since apparently they are no longer sold separately, and if you send them in to get fixed/replaced, it costs $200. Fortunately I happened to find a broken headset with working controllers on eBay for less than the previous going rate for controllers, but I was feeling pretty upset for a minute there.

You guys have heard me talk about Bigscreen before, how you can use it to play your media files on a virtual imax screen, and even invite your friends to watch with you (as long as they also have a virtual headset of some kind, even the budget standalone Oculus Quest works).

Well, today they announced a new feature: Bigscreen Cinema. This might be the other shoe dropping for the theater industry. Bigscreen will now be showing movies themselves that you buy tickets for (showtimes start every half hour), and watch with other people. Basically the full "theatrical" experience, just in VR.

At the moment, the movies they're showing are not what's in theaters right now, but imagine if it evolved in that direction.

So will the mandatory facebook integration for Oculus be affecting any forumites' VR setup or VR plans?

--Patrick
My Oculus account is already linked to Facebook. I don't really care if they know when I play Beat Saber. Though most of the games I actually care about I own through Steam and not the Oculus store, specifically so that I'm not tethered to it.

They say it used to be possible to use Oculus without facebook integration, but it was really always very, very hobbled. 90% of oculus users probably already have it integrated with facebook (and 100% of the oculus users I know do, myself included)

That said, it's hooked into my "Buzzy Pomona" burner FB account... soo....

I just impulse purchased a Quest 2 from Best Buy. Mostly because I don't feel like dealing with the cables and shit from my Rift anymore. I'm going to get a link cable on Saturday, but that's literally one skinny cable, and I don't need to use it all the time.

I will say that this headset is SO MUCH LIGHTER than my Rift. I'm really not using it a lot right now because I'm waiting for my cable, BUT it's a lot less tiring to wear. I did get the elite headstrap though, because the base one is poop.

This one got past me, but it looks fun. It's called OhShape

Not that I VR any more... I just sit here, having to put up with accidentally nudging a touch controller from time to time which activates all kinds of crap I then manually have to deactivate in windows, but I won't disconnect them because I keep pretending I'll get back into VR as soon as I clear the work stuff out of my computer room which is probably not going to happen for as long as I work where I work and live in this house.

Thank you for the suggestions! I will look into those.

Edit: the only ones that are compatible with Rift are The Talos Principle and Obduction, but those will be more than enough for us! Thanks again.
