I've been watching ProJared's videos for a while. He's pretty fun to watch when he's gaming. I didn't pay any attention to his social media, though. I'll definitely be unsubscribing from his channels after reading Heidi's tweets.

I'm not sure how I feel about Holly Conrad, though. Having an affair with a married man is shitty, but not grooming-underage-fans shitty.
EDIT: She's denying it and defending him. Unfollowing her in support of all the women coming forward.

I, personally, like everyone using it to justify JonTrons racist comments a few years back.

Now, JonTron has apologized, moved on, and will not even look in politics direction anymore. I reluctantly started following again and have been pleasantly surprised.

Hard to put a dick back in the box though...especially when it's been sent to underaged girls.

First, my identity: I’m Cheratomo - Cara. Hello! I’m a writer, game developer, and casual streamer. Some of you may know me as one of the people behind Asagao.

Second, my job: no, I will no longer be working as Miss Editor. My friends are helping me to find a new job, so hopefully I should have a better situation before long.

Third: I really liked this job. I liked making people laugh, I liked reading the comments, I liked the community here. I am very sad to be leaving. So I wanted to say, thank you for everything. It was nice working with you.

I met ProJared at SGC 2010 back when he was still going by "Jared the Professional." He did seem like a little bit of a dick. Honestly a lot of the ScrewAttack crew did. I had an unbroken chain of victories (something like 70) playing SoulCalibur in the arcade they'd set up that only ended when I could no longer hold my bladder, and while I wasn't looking for attention or anything, somebody else went and pointed it out to one of the ScrewAttack bigwigs (I forget his name but everybody fawned over him) to look, and he came over, watched for 2 seconds and dismissively said "Eh, he's just cheesing Nightmare" making sure to say it loud enough for me and everyone else to hear, and went about his business. I mean, I wasn't expecting a trophy or anything... but if you're running a con for your fans, maybe you should remember to put effort into not being a dick. He could have just said "cool" and moved on. Having worked a number of events for the radio station, the lack of professionalism really stood out to me. When you go to Disneyland, and are going about your day, you're not expecting Goofy to come up behind you and tell you your shirt looks stupid or something, right?

Here's just hoping Brentalfloss and Nathan "Keith Apicary" Barnatt don't turn out to be closet nazis or anything. They were the highlight of ScrewAttack for me back in the day.

I was one of JonTron's defenders through his controversy... ironically, I'm finding I don't really enjoy his recent content as much as his old videos, and have started skipping him when he comes up in my subscription feed :/

When did JonTron apologize? I only saw his hamfisted attempt to evade the issue and blame it on SJWs a few years back.

And the drama exploded again today. Apparently Jared couldn't stand having other people get attention at the D&D Live event he was originally scheduled to be at, so he made a complete non-apology that was just a thinly-veiled excuse to attack Heidi again. I hope this latest tweet comes back to bite him in the ass when he faces legal repercussions for sexting underage girls.

There are literally teenagers who've passed their interactions with him to the FBI. Some who went through Holly and she immediately went to Jared with the information and coerced personal information from them so he had an easier time getting them to clam up.

Well, she's doing really dumb things, but she's likely been manipulated and abused, too. Total armchair psychology here, but she has a history of cutting, which suggests she's had some history of trauma or abuse, and she previously described herself as asexual until Jared. I could absolutely be wrong, but it really seems like Jared found Holly to be an ideal victim. He's been crafting Holly's perception of Heidi for years. None of that excuses her behavior, but hopefully it means she can come to her senses at some point.

Oh, and he had the perfect way to form a sexual relationship with someone who is the type of asexual that Holly appears to be. (Asexuality comes in many varieties. Those who have no sex drive at all. Those who are repulsed by sexuality. Those who have a sex drive, but feel no sexual attraction to others. Etc. Etc. Etc.) Jared had erotic fanart and fanfic of their two characters to allow his proxy to get it on with her proxy, and then get her to switch that bond from fiction to reality. He probably pushed her boundaries slowly over the course of months. If she'd never managed to have a sexual bond with Ross, then that really fucking complicates the situation, and would go a long way to explaining why she's defending ProJared to such an irrational degree.

But enough speculation on Holly's mental state.

The whole "Heidi turned Jared's friends against him" doesn't hold water in light of PBGamer's reaction. "This aint it chief" flipped over to "I'm sorry, I spoke before hearing from NormalBoots's lawyer. I'd been told a lot of wrong things by Jared over the years", that doesn't jive with the narrative of him being manipulated by Holly for a long time before this all became public.

I literally meant going from saying Heidi is full of shit for claiming to stay with an abuser for so long to LITERALLY the next tweet saying that it's very difficult to leave an abuser and poor Jared.

It takes some real mental gymnastics to post those two posts back to back without ANY kind of self realization. I was just being flippant and reductive.

As someone who had no idea who ProJared was before this thread (even though he sometimes guests on the C-team), I find this narrative you've constructed deeply disturbing and look forward to the episode of Black Mirror that is eventual based on it.

I actually fully agree with you, from what little I know of Holly Conrad, her actions fit with that sort of manipulation. But while I have sympathy, I'm also fully fine with people raking her over the coals for her actions, because at the end of the day we all need to be responsible for the things we say and do. (Not saying you tried to defend her, I know you didn't)
