Former President and Convicted Felon Trump Thread

Trump pardoning Flynn might blow up in both their faces.

A pardon would mean the 5th amendment in the plea deal Flynn took for a reduced sentence would no longer apply, and he would be required to testify against trump or be guilty of federal obstruction.
The assumption here is that we live in a world where the ruling class are held to any kind of accountability. So I'm skeptical.

This is why no charges have been brought yet. You can't pre-emptively pardon someone.
Ford did.

THIS.

So what if states will charge Trump? If the US government as a whole won't hold him accountable, then he'll never see any consequences, no matter how many states find him guilty.

The Encyclopedia Brittanica (I think) used to put out supplemental volumes for each year as time progressed.
2016-2020 would probably require 10 volumes instead of the usual 5.

It's normally used in large group photos when a bill is signed so everyone can fit in the picture. No functioning adult would allow a president to sit at it solo.

Why do you brag of evil, "Big Man"? God's mercy carries the day.

You scheme catastrophe; your tongue cuts razor-sharp, artisan in lies.

You love evil more than good, you call black white.

You love malicious gossip, you foul-mouth.

God will tear you limb from limb, sweep you up and throw you out, Pull you up by the roots from the land of life.

Good people will watch and worship. They'll laugh in relief:

"Big Man bet on the wrong horse, trusted in big money, made his living from catastrophe."

Pennsylvania high court throws out challenge to mail-in ballots

The state Supreme Court unanimously wiped out a lower court order that had blocked state officials from doing anything further to carry out this week’s certification of the election results.
The court criticized plaintiffs for filing the suit more than a year after universal mail-in voting was established in the state and said they lacked "due diligence." (NBCNews)

So basically all he has left is trying to bully the state legislatures into overriding the Will of the People because Diaper Don says so.

Pretty much. It's basically the only option if Arizona and Colorado certify on Monday, and if the Supreme Court decides to not take up the Pennsylvania case that just got shut down by the Appellate Court.

Dismissed with prejudice. Meaning "get this shit out of our courtroom and don't come back."

Honestly I am still not figuring what people think is going to happen with the Supreme Court.

They keep bringing up how Bush vs Gore went, but keep forgetting key facts about that case.

Yes, there was a lot of bad calls by the MSM during that shit, but when the counting was done, Bush won Florida. It was such a narrow victory though, that it went into recounts, and once it got to the USSC they basically ruled to stop the recounts and allow Bush to be certified the winner. They didn't "overturn" an official Gore victory, they simply prevented the recount that "maybe" could have overturned an already registered Bush victory. This matters, because to change this election they would have to openly overturn state certifications, which is a whole other can of worms then motioning for a stay on a recount. Bush vs Gore came down to a single state and just over 500 votes. That is easier to make a call on. Overturning the elections of up to FOUR states, one of which Biden won by over 150k, is one hell of a stretch, even if they did have some evidence of voter fraud in one of the states. I mean, hell, let's say they do find fraud in Michigan (they won't, but for the sake of argument), they can only make a call on Michigan certifications. They can't use the evidence of Michigan fraud to overturn the election results in PA or AZ, that isn't how it works.

Even ignoring all that, the USSC is an appellate court. It does not see new evidence, but instead takes the existing evidence in the lower court to see if the lower courts made a mistake in their ruling. When a case is thrown out of a lower court due to lack of evidence, then thrown out of appeals for continued lack of evidence, even in the rare chance the USSC would even look at the case, they won't be able to look at any new evidence. Giuliani can't just dump a bunch of Affidavits on a table that the lower courts never saw. If he even tried that, the USSC would rule he take the new evidence to the lower courts for remedy. Should the lower courts refuse the remedy, then it could make it's way up to the USSC again, where if they disagree with the lower courts choice, can overturn the remedy refusal, but then, you guessed it, it would then just go back to the lower courts, who then see the new evidence and by the time this is all done we probably be months into Biden's presidency.

It's really distressing, because the little undertone to this whole USSC shtick is that Trump supporters feel Goursh, Kavanagh, and Barret are Trump loyalists who, with the help of Alito and Thomas, are basically going to put Trump back into power regardless of any rules, ethics, or even evidence. It's like they just assume Giuliani is going to go to the court, wink at them, and they will overturn the results of four states. It's fucking madness. These people are fucking mad.

The problem with that line of thinking is you're already seeing Trump appointees telling Giuliani, et. al. to get fucked. :D

He already has been told to get fucked by Trump appointees, just not the three in the USSC yet, so it's not like it's impossible.

EDIT : I think I misread your quote, my bad.

Really, my comment was just annoyance because as much as all these Trump supporters scream "Fraud!" into the wind, they also act like going to the SC no matter the evidence will automatically be a Trump win.

"but that's the way it works in movies and TV shows!"

Do you honestly think most Trump supporters - or, to be fair, any group of average Americans - knows how all of that works beyond what Hollywood has taught them?

They're 100% right on this.
