Not sure if anyone read the article from the two capitol police officers, but the whole thing sounds nuts. My two biggest take away from it is that some of the rioters were more organized then people thought, communicating and organizing where to hit over walkie-talkies and ear-pieces, but also that when it started to hit, the capitol police leadership basically went AWOL. There was no strategy being communicated or even com chatter from the top brass, pretty much leaving every pocket of officers to figure it out themselves. Really not helping the case that this was not some sort of pre-planned event.
Also for anyone itching for some video,
someone has made a playlist with all videos they can find about the events that lead up to, the event, and the aftermath of the riot itself. There are a whole lot of videos that are new to me on there, including the first breach of the outer barricade, the moment congress realized what was happening, various opinions of delegates as it was happening, etc. It really shows how this was a creeping mob, each barricade getting overrun as they pushed closer to the building and finally got inside. There is even a video of a guy trying to climb up a wall where a lot of capitol police are attempted to block a stairway, and one of the cops just shoves him off.
Also, and I know this is hypocritical of me, I own it, but I couldn't help but smile at this video because you just know this guy called BLM a bunch of thugs sometime in the last few months and has a giant thin blue line flag on his truck that goes right along side the giant confederate one he is holding. Sometimes all you have left is to enjoy the schadenfreude.
