[News] US Capitol Siege 6 January 2021

I was mildly surprised when the lady sitting on the floor started talking in a Russian accent. For some reason, I associated all the rioters with southern hillbilly accents. Perhaps I should reexamine my biases.
One of the people arraigned for the Capitol insurrection needed a Russian interpreter.

I was a bit shocked, too. But maybe not that shocked.

Russia has been working too hard at promoting this terrorism for you to just ignore them!

Not sure if anyone read the article from the two capitol police officers, but the whole thing sounds nuts. My two biggest take away from it is that some of the rioters were more organized then people thought, communicating and organizing where to hit over walkie-talkies and ear-pieces, but also that when it started to hit, the capitol police leadership basically went AWOL. There was no strategy being communicated or even com chatter from the top brass, pretty much leaving every pocket of officers to figure it out themselves. Really not helping the case that this was not some sort of pre-planned event.

Also for anyone itching for some video, someone has made a playlist with all videos they can find about the events that lead up to, the event, and the aftermath of the riot itself. There are a whole lot of videos that are new to me on there, including the first breach of the outer barricade, the moment congress realized what was happening, various opinions of delegates as it was happening, etc. It really shows how this was a creeping mob, each barricade getting overrun as they pushed closer to the building and finally got inside. There is even a video of a guy trying to climb up a wall where a lot of capitol police are attempted to block a stairway, and one of the cops just shoves him off.

Also, and I know this is hypocritical of me, I own it, but I couldn't help but smile at this video because you just know this guy called BLM a bunch of thugs sometime in the last few months and has a giant thin blue line flag on his truck that goes right along side the giant confederate one he is holding. Sometimes all you have left is to enjoy the schadenfreude.

I agree with everything you said except this:

It was absolutely a planned event. It was planned on Parlor and they bussed people in, had the materials handy to build gallows, etc. Now, you may be saying it wasn't on any of the COPS schedule but that's also incorrect, because the cops were there, the cops were complicit. The pentagon knew about it ahead of time and made sure no law enforcement would get backup.

This was not a spontaneous event. This was a calculated and coordinated attack on our voting process. Had those two women not had the foresight to grab the electoral ballots, who knows what would have happened?

Now, hang on, they had the stuff to build gallows and IEDs and other weapons available, but have YOU been to a Trump rally? I haven't. Maybe those crowds just naturally bring those things along with them to every rally in case this is the one that Trump finally declares it Treason Season.

I wish I could find the tweet, but there was a reporter, that was scanning shit like Parler, and got their 2 days earlier. She talked about all the things she noticed about rioters. They were mostly mobbers, but she noticed a LOT of people more well prepared and organized that knew their business.

Scroll up like 4 posts. Is that her?

Point of order?

The copies of those ballots are made out in triplicate. If some jerkoff had made off with them, the National Archives would have the backup copies. At the very least, the state governments that certified them would have their own copies as well.

EDIT: I was wrong - sextuplicate.

Prepare the Certificate of Vote

Federal law does not govern the general appearance of the Certificate of Vote so the format can vary from State to State. The electors must execute six Certificates of Vote. Federal law requires that each Certificate of Vote must:

  • contain two distinct lists, one for President and one for Vice President and must:
    • list all persons who received electoral votes for President and the number of electors who voted for each person.
    • list all persons who received votes for Vice President and the number of electors who voted for each person.
    • not contain the names of persons who did not receive electoral votes.
  • be signed by all of the electors.
  • be attached to an original Certificates of Ascertainment retained by the State.
  • must be sealed and certified by the electors, after being paired with the Certificate of Ascertainment, as containing the list of electoral votes of that State for President and Vice President.

While it's somehow seemingly got lost in all the DC news, there were several armed protests and attemps to storm State Capitols and election headquarters. Mot of 'm didn't amount to much (a few hundred people protesting in the street) but quite a few of them got quite aggressive - if the protestors had been black they'd've been tear gassed away. If things in DC had gone differently, I can imagine them signaling to "friends" in other states to push through, too.

No, what I'm saying is, even if someone would have walked off with the copies that were in the chamber at the time, there were still at least five more copies wandering around that could be used for the "official" count.

But could have delayed the vote for at least a day.

"WASHINGTON (AP) -- FBI bulletin warns of plans for armed protests at all 50 state capitals and in Washington ahead of Biden inauguration."

I also see a guy wearing a mask and staying as far from the chaos and violence as possible. Now the woman who posted it claims he had a very different post up before the one that's currently there. That may change things if I could read that, however, I don't think a sweater that says "Civil War Jan 6, 2021" necessarily means he was there with violent intent. He could be wearing it knowing fully well it was an exaggeration of how he wanted things to play out. If nothing happened that day the shirt wouldn't make a blip on anyone's radar.
Now that guy in the Auschwitz sweater is a different case entirely.

I disagree. Civil War? Dude, that's not a t-shirt, that's an advertised threat. And considering what happened, a lot of the same type of people were there.

And even if he got no further than the Capital steps, the law is very clear. He's just as guilty as the ones who physically did the damage. No sympathy. No devil's advocate. Fuck that guy and everyone else who took part.

I don't know his intention. I'm not saying it was a shirt in good taste, but I am just saying it doesn't mean that was his intention to incite violence.
I know it's not really the same thing, but as an example I wear my "Rocks fall. Everyone dies" Tee to D&D nights all the time. It's an exaggeration. In my case for humor. In that guy's case... I dunno. For emphasis? He stayed away from the violence and that should be considered. He could just be an idiot with poor taste in clothing.
