He’s basically said he’s done with albums and just going to release songs as he sees fit.

Yeah... he just does constant voice work and occasionally directs music videos these days. He's made his money and put his kid through school. He really has no reason to put out "product" to fund his life, he can just perform concerts and pursue his art.
