Random Video Game Crap

Fallout won the award for Best Adaptation at the Game Awards. In his acceptance speech, producer/director Jonathan Nolan thanked New Vegas fans for not burning his house down.

Heh heh.

And also being alone for a million miles in every direction, with nobody that can appreciate anything you build, do, or accomplish. And also lag and floating point errors in physics calculations. KLANG

I had a minor epiphany recently. I realized why Leonardo is my favourite Ninja Turtle and it has nothing to do with the characterization (that came later).

It's because he's the most balanced character to play in the original NES TMNT game. I realized this as I've been replaying the old NES game.

Leo has good reach with the katana and attacks relatively fast.
The other three are trickier to play by comparison.

Donnie is best for reach, but slow.
Mikey and Raph are near useless for reach, which is important in a game with a dangerous hitbox.
But Leo is the most balanced of them all. I played him the most in the game back in the day.

This love for playing Leo on the first NES game shifted to making him my main pick for the later arcade games. He wasn't the most popular Turtle, so most didn't mind if I picked him.

So yeah, even though I love the character now, it's because of the NES TMNT game that he was my favourite Turtle.

Reddit recommends posts about Saints Row and Slime Rancher to me, so sometimes I get very confused for a moment when I see a post title about SR2 but my mind goes to the wrong game series.

Don't think this needs its own thread. But I got American Truck Simulator, and bought the Texas DLC. I really enjoyed Euro Truck Simulator back in the day, but everything was strange and foreign.

Driving around Texas is really nice because everything is so familiar.

Rather than go through the hassle of doing them myself, I thought I'd get some Civ 6 save files that help unlock certain achievements. I found a forum thread with save games to download.

But no matter how much I google search how to find the save games, none of the guides help. Some say it's under MyGames under Users, but nope, it' not there. Tried the Civ 6 folder in steamapps. Nope. I have no idea where to find the right folder or where to copy these downloaded save files. :(

I find the PC Gaming Wiki to be the most reliable. Here's Civ 6's page.

Did you check <User Profile>\My Games\ or <User Profile>\Documents\My Games\ ? Because I'm pretty sure I had both on my old PC, with various games using one or the other, and it caused me confusion more than once.

You could also try searching for *.Civ6Save , since you probably have some saved games already.

Have you tried the 'documents' folder? Open explorer, click the shortcut to documents, and see if there's a 'my games' in there that you can peek in.

Man, I used to love this game back in the day

Damn, i remember playing the demo for this back in the day, when the high seas where less accessible over here (you had to buy the ripped CD's from people with access to uni level speeds... i still remember the basement window they once sold them out of when i pass a certain university building, and you still didn't have stuff that wasn't very popular etc.).

Looking through my gog.com and Steam libraries and trying to filter my games by genre I can only once again conclude that the "RPG" genre/name/tag has completely and utterly lost all meaning and needs redefining.
Any game where there is even a hint of "you're playing as a character" and "the character goes through a storyline" is apparently an RPG.
What use is a "genre" that includes The Witcher, Heroes of Might and Magic, HuniePop, Diablo, FTL, On the Rainslick Precipice of Darkness, Jedi Academy, Space Pirates and Zombies, Tropico, and Kingdom Rush?

There's rhythm games in there, top-down turn based abstract games, first person story-heavy puzzle games, mindless grind/gorefests, funny jokey relaxing games where you can't fail, full-on real time strategy games, horror, tower defense....
Ugh.

Idle Champions just added Eric from the saturday morning squad. I think they kinda did him dirty a little bit.

Eric wasn't as muscular as Hank, but he did have SOME muscle mass.

Ah well, still looking forward to getting Hank and Sheila, whenever they get around to coming out.

Also, it's not 100% clear to me why Dungeon Master doesn't get the "Saturday Morning Squad" affiliation. For that matter, Strongheart. I guess I can understand why Warduke doesn't, though really he SHOULD.

Or as I will be referring to it going forward... Muscle Mommy Valheim.

This game really needs more time in the oven. It's got a solid idea behind it (AAA graphics on valheim with a touch of Palworld) but it's got serious QOL issues and some other shit. Controls are sludgy and unresponsive, the chore cycle is a little tedious, doors always swing the wrong fucking way, too many uninterruptible animations that do nothing but waste time, and too many "we have to be different for difference's sake" bad control decisions. Also the game is WAY too fiddly about the context for its contextual controls. Every single building interaction is the "try not to drink from the radioactive toilet when you are fishing an item out of it" levels of pixel-perfect irritation.
