"Mom, have you seen my firework pot?"
The story of the SUV is literally just "we know you want station wagons and minivans, but we make more money when we skirt efficiency and safety regulations, so here, we'll spice things up with some toxic masculinity and you can convince yourself this is what you wanted anyway. Or not. We don't care, we're not going to sell the other stuff anymore anyway."I still love station wagons, and have never really seen the appeal of SUVs.
Thankfully efficiency has still dramatically improved and a hybrid SUV can get 35+ mpg and now there are decent electric options. The story of the SUV is literally just "we know you want station wagons and minivans, but we make more money when we skirt efficiency and safety regulations, so here, we'll spice things up with some toxic masculinity and you can convince yourself this is what you wanted anyway. I saw that the day it came out. I don't even follow the channel, but the station wagon is the best all-round family design and I will not hear otherwise. There is one -- ONE -- decent modern wagon out there right now...buuuut it costs something like $75k.
For the moment. We're in the process of rolling all that back. If you get double digit mpg you're a trans commie terrorist, now.Thankfully efficiency has still dramatically improved and a hybrid SUV can get 35+ mpg and now there are decent electric options.
I was living in the Detroit area when the Ford Expedition was announced, and I remember a (Guindon?) newspaper cartoon that had two guys in a very tall SUV that was crowding and belching smoke over everyone next to them, and the driver was saying something like, "Who needs a tailpipe, when you can have a smokestack!"We're in the process of rolling all that back.
Well, I am on their team, at least, so yeah. For the moment. We're in the process of rolling all that back. If you get double digit mpg you're a trans commie terrorist, now.
I'm not trans but at this point give it ten years, who the fuck knows.Well, I am on their team, at least, so yeah.
I hear it'll keep you out of the armed services.I'm not trans but at this point give it ten years, who the fuck knows.
It does not appear to have a NA equivalent, but it looks almost exactly the same as a Honda Odyssey, which definitely straddles smack dab between the station wagon and minivan slots. My family drives a 20+ year old Toyota Wish, which I believe is a station wagon. It's great.
