Shawnacy's 4E D&D Game, part 2!
I have a suggestion for Grendmir that he may not have considered. I thought of this while playing one of my Tuesday night characters, a warforged fighter.
Consider getting a ranged weapon, even a really cheap one like a sling or hell, a handful of rocks.
Why?
You can use your mark, Combat Challenge on a hit OR a miss. There may be situations where it's beneficial to mark someone from far away, even just to give that target a -2 to attack any allies who might be nearer, if not directly encourage that target to recklessly approach you.
I realized this when my party came into combat against a team of halflings, one of whom was sniping from a treetop. We had our hands full with the ones on the ground, so I decided to huck a rock at the sniper. I missed due to low Dex and improvised ranged weapon penalties, but he had a -2 to ranged attack everyone that turn until the party could deal with him more directly.
