Much better said. Even I have grown tired of playing that game, though.Ok, so he enjoys the fact that only people who have a genuine interest in arguing politics on a regular basis post in his threads.
I think most people learned long ago to just ignore him. He is like the Mike Savage of the forums.I really have no clue why anyone here ever replies to anything gasbandit posts.
And this definitely isn't subforum material. It's gonna be front page news on most websites and papers.
It was in the National Lampoon, and yes they did get sued. But it was Volkswagen that sued, not Kennedy.is that real?
No, more like if his father hadn't been an extremely successful prohibition bootlegger, we'd never have heard of him.Dave said:
Obviously he didn't learn that. He learned that he can always get forgiveness because of who he was born to.
Strawman to what? Because nobody was saying he WASN'T a nepocrat? He was, after all... he tried to force that brainless twat Caroline on us, remember? But again, how is this a "straw man?" I don't think you're using that phrase correctly.
See above. I think you're saying straw man when you mean Ad Hominem.
The guy walked back to his hotel and went to bed. Never thought to call the cops, or I dunno, an ambulance? For the woman he left to drown in his car? And of course, his family connections get him off the hook with a slap on the wrist.
I didn't say "has a drink from time to time," I said DRUNK. As in habitually.
Well, OK then.
Bipartisanship is part of what is wrong with the current political situation. And frankly, shame on Bush as well for that little piece of legislation as well. Bipartisanship is the enemy of our nation. If you had 5 men and a woman stranded on a desert island and a vote was passed to remove her right to consent, it would be called bipartisan.
See above again, and this is taken from a direct quote where Kennedy said that "we are engaged in a war against individualism" and he wasn't meaning that was a bad thing. What made it even more WTF-ish was he brought this up in a speech to congratulate the New England Patriots on their super bowl victory.
Granted, our politicians serve us best when they can't get anything done, but that's not what I meant and you know it
It's more than anybody else is bringing to illustrate the GOOD he did. What did he do in his 9 terms that was so grand? Specific examples please.Pretty weak, Gas. All around pretty weak. Dude served 9 terms as a Senator and that's all you got?
I know. And it's cool until the personal attacks start. Not putting up with that any longer.I really didn't want the thread to go this direction
Nope. That would be The Wretched Hive of Scum and Villainy. So is mod-speak in different colors now?
And does that mean that the thread graveyard is a place we can still keep posting and just be the rudest dudes in town?
All the more reason why the Politics forum should be in that section. aranoid:Nope. That would be The Wretched Hive of Scum and Villainy.
I would absolutely understand if you did move it. I'm just sad we couldn't have one thread on a political figure dying that doesn't become a sad statement about how inconsiderate we are of other people.I know. And it's cool until the personal attacks start. Not putting up with that any longer.
Please? It's more than anybody else is bringing to illustrate the GOOD he did. What did he do in his 9 terms that was so grand? Specific examples please.
Please is generally used when you ask for something politely. Please?
Ahh, Eddie Izzard. When Diana died she had two kids, and there was alot of sympathy which was understandable. My mum died when I was six and my brother was eight. No one gave a shit.
A nine term senator whose vote effected pretty much every federal law passed in the last forty years in some way is rather more important in terms of recognition than most joes off the street. That's my opinion anyway.People die all the time. Yes it is sad but I still say that public figures and celebrities get way more attention than they deserve. Is there life really really any more important than some random Joe?

I have to disagree with this. I provide reasoned arguments all the time but he doesn't want reasoned arguments, he wants to stir shit up a bit. You can tell by the glee in his posts when he snags a liberal frothing at the mouth. The frothier the better.Ok, so he enjoys the fact that only people who have a genuine interest in arguing politics on a regular basis post in his threads.
He fell through the ice?Never heard of him.
I was more taken by the news of Erkki Laine, a Finnish ice hockey legend, drowning just two days ago.
It's summer, wiseguy. He fell through the ice?
Seriously. Celebrating someone's death is reprehensible except in rare circumstances (aka Hitler). It shows a disgusting side of humanity. I remember in college when Reagan died the local hippie house threw a party. I got really drunk and went there and started fights. Surprisingly, they were all pussies. Not sure where that story was going...I guess I never want to be the type of person who celebrates someone's death. No matter how much I disagree with them.
yea but in Finland, so it was what? 30F?It's summer, wiseguy.
