Minor victory thread

Not anything that I did, or even have control over, but we finally got rain today, almost an inch. First rain we've had in over 2 months. YEAH!

Okay, so I bought this shirt a few weeks ago, and honestly, I've gotten more compliments on it that any other item of clothing I own. So, the father of one of my daughter's friends came to pick her up from our Halloween party and notices it, and we start talking The Walking Dead. A couple of days ago, I ran into him and he asked if I had watched. When I said no, he asked if I wanted to come over and watch with his friends, which I did last night. Not only was the show awesome, he and his friends are all huge comic, movie and gaming nerds, which works out for me. This was the closest thing to me being sociable outside of work and this place in maybe ten years.

So, yeah, that shirt was a pretty good buy.

iPhone :D It's pretty neat. If I really need the internet I don't need to depend on my shitty apt complex or go to campus. Yay for getting emails when I need em!

Ooh my Dad got that one. He feels very very fancy. Glad you're enjoying it! Another awesome thing is that I get to see my friends from the UK during Thanksgiving break!!! I miss them so much!

Congrats Phil!

But I agree with makare that it deserves an epic win

*edit*

I have a possible minor victory to report. As some of you may recall I went in for an x-ray last week and it looked like I could be responsible for up to $400 for it but today I checked my info to see how much was covered and if I read it correctly it looks like I will only have to pay $40 instead of the $400 :)

I have to write an essay comparing the Homeric themes, imagery and symbolism in the Iliad to a movie. So I am writing it on Serenity.

I found that a sixth-grader I'm teaching reads Don Rosa's Scrooge McDuck comics. That is great, for Don Rosa makes excellent comics. Or made... he's retired now. Which is sad.

But I'm glad that the student enjoys them.

How did I find this out? By making a reference to Geronimo's birth name, He Who Yawns.

I start my new job at Best Buy tomorrow. The theatre has been cutting hours like no ones business and, to be honest, the job of a protectionist is fast on its way out with the newer digital projectors becoming the norm. They can start by themselves and don't need to be threaded like the old school film versions.

Best Buy will actually be more money/hr, more hours, giant discount and I'll be working in gaming. The only thing I'm concerned with is I am being hired as seasonal, though their gaming department is severely lacking bodies right now and I was told that I should be able to stay on as one of the few they keep after the holidays.

Also it was only the second of two places that I had applied at.

Congrats on the new job.

However, I will say that I'm not happy about the change in projector situation, because the digital ones still break sometimes and now it just takes longer for someone to get to fixing it.

I'm not happy about it either as it's putting me out of a job I actually enjoyed. Ours haven't broken down to the point of needing the tech to come in but, as we're on an island, I imagine it would take even longer to get someone out to fix them.

I think today is going to be awesome. I'm pretty happy.

However if I get called on in Family Law I take this entire sentiment back.

my professor said he was feeling a little strange today during lab, I sensed a passed out doctor of horticulture about to happen, thusly I and another gentlemen stood up and quickly and put our selves on each side right as he went cold, nice controlled slide to the floor. very scared professor 30 seconds later as he finds two large bearded fellows staring down at him asking the TA to call the medics, the look on his face of a few seconds of absolute terror will be ingrained into my soul for sometime. we got him a chair and he continued the class like the hard headed teacher we all know and love.

all and all, a good morning to be a guy named Bones.

Damnit Jim you're a student, not a doctor...
