I never understood the whole "people in the field hating TV shows about what they do" I've worked in offices for years, but that doesn't make me hate the office because it's unrealistic.
I imagine it has to do with people's false expectations of the police force, etc.
You should try wathing... well, just about anything entertaining, with a firefighter. Eerything from "THAT'S NOT HOW YOU DO CPR!" and "A DEFRIBULATOR WOULD BE USELESS THERE!" to "THAT'S NOT EVEN AN EXPLOSIVE!" or "THAT'S ACTUALLY EXPLOSIVE!" and "JET FUEL BURNS WAY FASTER AND HOTTER THAN THAT!"
Somehow, though, if Arnold Schwarzennegar is in the movie, these factual errors are overlooked.
My favourite is the one that comes up in every action movie ever "That wouldn't work, gasoline won't light from a cigarette." Yes, dad, you've told us this before.
I have this problem with my dad and Top Gun. "That's not what that button does!" "The HUD looks nothing like that!" "Oh come on, you can't use that missile on an F-14!"
That is the way I was acting watching Robin Hood yesterday...
Oil don't Explode! a 120 lb. 40 year old woman is not going to string a yew long bow with one hand! There were no landing craft in the middle ages! Christians don't burn the bodies of nobles... etc.
I was totally insufferable to my date.
