She was just about 30 when the Jews started the Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine. So by her perspective, it is not too late to leave.

Since her family is Lebanese Christian, they know how it feels to be driven out of your home because of your faith.

Even if it WAS a blunder, saying that they should leave NOW is incredibly unsympathetic... Most Jews in Israel where now BORN there. Doesn't matter the circumstances that brought their families there, they were born and raised there. It's their home, it's their country.

Like someone was quoted saying.. it's akin to saying black people should leave America NOW because their forefathers were brought from Africa. They don't give a shit, they're American, this is their home, this is where they belong.
I get what you are saying bout the it's their home now. But I gotta say the black people thing doesn't really jive if anythings its more messed up because our forefathers brought them over here against their will. The people over there weren't moved in because the Palestine people wanted them there. (Although neither scenario is good).
No, they were moved there because other countries said, "Good, now we have a place to put our Jews." Much of it was not their free will either.
Ya but it still different than the case of America where blacks were brought over to do work for them.
It's still a workable analogy.
Iit really isn't because for here it feels more like a case of buyers remorse where now because they can't be forced to work they want them out of the country.

What a clever and well thought out retort to the fact that the analogy fails. Sorry that i don't agree with the analogy that greatly simplifies two sets of peoples plight.

That's right! Any small imperfection in an analogy, no matter how inane or unimportant, negates the entire thing! I remember now.

Telling Jews to leave would be like Native Americans telling everyone else to leave. Yes, there is an original crime/mistake/whatever, but now it's just too impractical to try and reset the clock.

It's not small its a huge simplification of the two different scenarios so I am sorry that the analogy is false and useless for the situation, but you go ahead and pretend that I am negating it because of a small reason.

The reason by the way is that Africans WERE forced over here to work, We wanted them here to work for us. Did the Palestine people want the Israels to move into their region? No, well I guess that negates the whole damn thing because the entire reason for both people being in the situation is different.

In addition did Palestine people ever want the Israel people there? No well there is a second reason. One has never wanted the people there, ours is more of a buyers remorse after they started getting rights and couldn't be used for what they were brought here for.

Third Israel is a country, is there a black country here? Maybe a state? or perhaps a county? no?

I think I'm staying out of this one. I get the feeling my thoughts on Israel won't be very popular. All I'll say is the creation of Israel was one of the biggest blunders of the 21st century.

I agree and I'll stay out as well.

More Devil's Advocate...

I am shocked, that a reporter says something against Israel and loses a job in the print media.

*Gasp* I know! It's like...like you can get away with saying something bad about every single country and religion on the planet, except for Israel and the Jews!

Wait...what century?

But yeah, it was a bad idea. I don't think it was any worse than every other thing the powers that be did to the middle east over the last 200 years, but it was one in a number of very bad choices. "Hey let's just draw borders on this map and not pay attention to racial or religious differences. They may not like it, but what's the worst that can happen?" Great job Europe. Africa and the Middle East thanks you.
Ah good ol' post colonialism. Don't forget now, Southeast Asia also thanks the French and British!

It really is. Maybe with a bit longer of a timeline, but that still doesn't matter... if you were born and raised somewhere it's your home, it doesn't matter if your family has been there for 42 generations or you're the first.
Pretty much this.

Ah Israel / Middle East. Those guys sure hold grudges for a long long time. The way both sides act ensures there will never be an end to the fighting.

On topic, sad end for her. This is probably what she'll be remembered for the most.

Your disagreement does not equal the analogy failing.
I put forth reasons for why the analogy doesn't make sense.

Especially when he simplifies the slave trade to buyer's fucking remorse.
I hardly simplified the slave trade to buyers remorse i put forth one of the various differences between the two situations, you merely simplified my argument

it wasn't a retort, it was a genuine expression of surprise. And then I gave up.
But he called it a retort. I don't see how that makes sense.

Maybe "wow" means "fuck you" to some people.

Chaz could save himself some typing in some situations, if so.
It's a condescending response rather than putting forth some effort and explaining what you are thinking.

Turbo is such a cool nickname, I can't believe Dave is giving it to me.

Y'know what? FINE, I'll take it, I don't care if I'm slow as hell, I'm TURBO
