The xbox 360 is the worst console that has ever existed (n/t)

After buying a PS3 and a WII, it's a POS and needs a new gen console. Also their "interface" sucks a dick. I would pay for a reliable system with a HDMI/Wireless.

Having exchange SIX (yes 6) 360 with RRD erros (thank god for exchange program on site with the store) I gave up and got PS3. Now Xbox system itself it not bad while I had it. I had lots of fun playing the games, but man.... I hope the new gen (planning to get it) is much better.

I don't understand the frequency of RROD's... The only Xbox 360 owners I personally know have 'only' gotten 1 RROD each, in about 4-5 years of use.

It's pretty sad that the fix to prevent RROD is ridiculously easy to get done. Though it does bring to question the original thought of this thread.

Are you questioning the original development of the 360, or the console itself? Due to it's ability to be modded, it's easily the best console ever released. When tweaked in the right way, you'll easily see it last as long as any other system out there.

My entire attraction to a console is that I buy it and then I don't have to do anything to make it play video games.

XBox 360 fails massively at the only thing I like about consoles

Thus - the worst of all time

What I was trying to say was: I really don't hear that many cases of RROD's around here, so... Is it a culture thing? Do American Xboxes break more because you have HFCS in sodas instead of sugar?
A mistery!

The interesting point here is that my opinion is almost a polar opposite. My attraction to the console is what it's capable of in the right hands. With some research and work, it can do things no other console can.

Xbox 360 succeeds tremendously where nothing but a PC could match.

Thus - my favorite of all time.

See I hear this all the time, but the problem is, I don't need my video game system to be a PC. I need it to play video games. If what makes it great is that you can make it like that other box sitting next to it by doing some mods then... well... I guess it's just not what entices me.

RROD happens based on cycles of manufactured 360s, so if your country got a later wave than the U.S. back when they were first coming out, odds are your country has less percentage of them.

No, what I mean is that I can install all the emulators I currently use on my PC, play with my kids on my big screen, in HDMI, without having to unplug my PC and move it around.

Everything I need in gaming, I have in my modded xbox.

So, you like 360 because it's easier to steal on.

If I could find and buy all the old CPS1 and CPS2 boards, install the cabinets and play with my kids that way. I would. If there were any arcades still alive today, that had those type of games still available, I would go there. Sadly neither is an option and my kids love playing D&D, Simpsons, X-Men, 1942, and another large host of MAME games. I'm sorry if that's considered stealing. I don't download and burn newly released 360 games, any SNES/GEN/GBA games I download usually are ones I've owned at some point. Though thank you for assuming such.

I got 2 RRODs thus I'm on my 3rd system. BTW, my SNES and Genesis still work without a problem.

So, yes I agree that the machine sucks a dick and Microsoft failed to deliver. Sadly, they have games I don't want to miss playing.

Is it anything beyond the normal clips bending out of shape issue that all front loader NES's have?

I love my top loader NES.

Top load NES systems are supposed to be much more reliable.

Also yeah, never had a RRoD on my 360, had it for 4 years now. Though I do agree it's stupid to even have to worry about something like this. We had an early run of the ps2 and had to send it back as well for a hardware issue; apparently the disc tray was heavy so if you lay the system flat it would weigh on the boards in a pretty damaging way.

ProTip: Nothing lasts longer than a Nintendo system, though. I've seen Gameboy's that have been dropped from third story windows and stormed on that still played fine.

This. I've got a game boy pocket that was chewed up pretty badly by an ex-friends dog. The original plastic switch is gone so I have to reach in and flip the smaller switch manually, but it still runs fine.
