The New NHL thread

Better start winning again Carolina, you 8th place isn't locked up yet. Toronto, New Jersey and the Islanders are coming for it!

yea, it was a shame the Rangers game went to a shootout, still I guess 3 points out of 7th and a game back is better than 4.

Man I long for the day that the Hurricanes become one of the top teams in the league. Then we can get mocked mercilessly.

You don't have the media exposure to get mocked.

Don't knock those 1 point losses, they are keeping you in the playoffs right now. That's the new NHL parity for you, not the salary cap but the 3 point game.

I know. I wish we had the media exposure too. As young as we are we're in great shape, and I think we have great potential to grow even further.

valient effort against the habs, but not quite enough. Impact of Staal gone? Possibly, but I'm not sure I'm buying that.

For those of you in the states that don't get how much Canadians love hockey.

Our primary sports network had a team of over twenty hockey analysts talk for over eight hours today on the various trades that occurred during the NHL trade deadline day.

And not a single trade is really even worth talking about.

Well... I gotta chime in for my team here... GO FLAMES!

If they can keep playing the way they have been lately they might actually make the playoffs... who knows. If they can keep playing the way they have been playing they might not get swept in four games either
.

Real shame is that those beautiful goals the young kids on the Islanders scored won't get the attention they deserve.

8 wins in a row and starting to play like defending champs. Last night was an odd game each team played like chumps for two periods and champs for one.

No one is going to talk about how awesome Jerome Iginla is? I mean, we all know it already, but the media seemed to be all over Iginla yesterday after his kickass penalty shot on Sunday.

Lets all bite checkeredhat he's good eating!

And why would we need to start Chara hating? Foolish jwhouk, we never stopped.

Pac dove into the glass divider and played dirty as he pretended to be hurt to get that 5 minute PP.

Now he's pretending about his concussion and broken neck!

That said, I don't think the hit was nearly as bad as some people are making it out to be. Late hit, interference penalty, done.

Intent, history, pushed into it.

In a fair world? Should be gone for the season himself as well. 0 games? You're just asking him to get shanked the next time he comes to town.

History? You mean his zero supplementary discipline in a 13 year career?

Hard to argue intent, too. A still frame of the hit is pretty different from watching it in real time. Also not sure how you give someone a season-long suspension for a perfectly legal hit that happened to be a second or two late.

A little shove after a goal? I really don't think that factors into a claim of intentionally trying to end someone's career.

It was enough for Chara to interrupt game celebrations and trying to take Pacs head off twice the next game they met and then finally managed to do it 2 games later.

I wish people can take their fan glasses off and see things how they are. This play is about as blatant as they come short of swinging your stick and clubbing someone into oblivion like McSorley did on Brashear.

I actually think the McSorley hit wasn't that bad.

We'll probably see action on the Chara hit soon, Air Canada is threatening to pull sponsorship if the NHL does not clean up their act.
