I was expecting more pizaaz from the great and powerful Falagar, Magebear Slayer!

Different characters will definitely play out differently in every encounters. The next few should be interesting and very different and will cater to the other type of characters.

Only 19 pages left on Good Mead... out of 31. :(

Also the continual corrections in DM Battle Master screwed up the stats somewhat in the 2nd encounter.

Ha! I out-DPSed the boss!

Love the Helga's mind setup. Is this a cherished memory from years past, or a completely fictitious event?

Next session we'll start in Helga's dream and then finally Rusty's. I'm sorry didn't have an intro prepared despite having a lot of things going in Rusty's dream that may bring some clarity to the character.

Hope you enjoyed the Magebear fight and the "Fake Servitor". And the Belt! And Dr. Bones!

Food for though regarding the session and the HPOD thus far? Open discussion would be very appreciated.

I'm happy you like the intro and yes it's going to be a short yet very interesting dream (prolly because of the upcoming Easthaven plot-line)

Switching it to once per door is good, switching it to a straight save instead of an increasing DC is much better.

Also; "BEWARE THE FISH!!!!"

I'm enjoying the dreams a lot; and it's actually really hard to stop playing. Reasons I think this are two-fold:
1. We're all video game players, and having immediately visible, quantifiable goals sometimes makes us see clearly our progress (ex: knowing how many temples to do in a Zelda game, how many targets in Assassin's Creed, or how many keys will open a door).
2. We're getting stuff that deeply and directly involves our characters, and while none of the events are things happening to them exactly as part of their lives, but making more issues for them in the future.

It's fun. I wouldn't want every situation to be any one way, but this one works the way it is. Although unlike Rathkor saying he's glad you had the magebear come about this way, I don't want you to feel restricted from making up monsters, or need to drag us into dreams for made-up things.

At wills: grant another a melee attack, grant another a ranged attack
Encounter: prevent an attack, heal at range, heal at range, heal at melee, attack monster to grant bonuses
Daily: attack to grant bonuses

That's why I don't want the dice.

Now based upon our previous experience in the dream world, we should kill everyone in Helga's dream before they can act!

"If you touch any member of my family, apparition or not, I will kill you. You will become a thought, part of this epemeral plane itself, to be twisted into an abombination.

Then I will dismember your dormant corpse.

With a hammer."

Fine, we can wait until they turn into gigantic demons of death dealing before killing them.

Remember folks; kill first heal second. It's the only way to be sure.

Heal first, kill second? Giant demon of doom!

Food for thought!

1. What did you think of the Magebear combat encounter?

2. Your personal impressions of the HPOD?

3. Discuss... the Simkin. What/Who/Why/Where/How

4. What did you think of the Fake Salvitor combat encounter?

5. What... what do you think is going on???

Two more doors before the ultimate door opens....

1. The bear was fun, liked the lightning storm (I would have made it deadlier), personally I would have had a the final blow delivered by a conjured Falagar that was magnificent in nature flying in and blasting it with lightning while proclaiming "Once more you fall foolish Magebear to me Falagar the Great!" or something like that

2. Revised rules on HPOD are much nicer and add the right amount of urgency to the setting.

3. Rusty loves the Simkin! He listens to Rusty, actually fights in combat, doesn't waste time, he ranks just behind Helga in Rusty's mind.

4. I'd would have had him backstab Rathkor after we set him free. Other than that it was a fun fight.

5. Everyone but Rusty, Helga and Simkin are going to die. We eventually open door 7 and fight the monster responsible for all the dream attacks, then wake up and are faced with determining why such an advanced monster would target a middle of nowhere town. This exposes a dark secret.

1. The mage bear was probably the most fun encounter so far, and the lightning storm was fun.

2. The HPOD is very interesting. The HPOD slowly taking us down adds a sence of urgency that I find thrilling.

3. Semkin, I dont really like him on a personal level. I don't know why.

4. Very nice. As I said, its funny I warned Tyrdin not to trust what he sees in this plain, only to not take his own advice. I kinda thought for maybe a second that might happen, but in character, Rathkor would have bought it. Very interesting Twist. Also, the demon wanted to fight whatever is leading this dream plane. Possibly also what trapped it there. Nice forshadowing to the final boss, and interesting to know that even other demons want to fight it.

5. No idea. should be fun.
