From before time and thought, before the physical and intangible there has been the mother of all Allytyn. Alone she was for uncountable eons, the essence of time energy that comprised the cosmos.

From her bosom did she bring forth twin brothers, Shalm and Malkath. Twin brothers of the same soul, one always seeking change, the other restrained stability. Along with their mother did they form the structure and chaos that is the universe. The great planes took shape and remain sacrosanct, populated by the chaotic forces of life.

Seeing that this was good did Allytyn create the guardians of the planes and all within them. Great beasts of flesh with the essence of their mother within their breasts. For they could control time itself along with the magical fabric of the cosmos. One day these beasts would be named by the denizens of the planes as Dragons.

Seeing a need to help further represent their nature amongst the universe. Allytyn did mate five times. These unions created six children who borrowed from their parents nature and spread their own natures amongst the planes.

“a tale of hate”

Long ago, longer than mankind can remember, the Lawgiver walked through the garden of heaven, holding hands with Frostmother and they were admiring what they had created. For down in the forests of Sheanere, their elves had grown wise and strong. Their music and crafts rivalled the drawings of Ambrosia in their loveliness.

The were not alone though, skulking behind them in the undergrowth, Dralk stood brooding and hateful.

“Why should she choose him and not me?!! I am strong! He is passive, I dominate the creatures below, he just watches them. She should have not chosen him to mate with, I am the stronger and I will show it!”

The beast then took his feces, which he had been saving for some purpose. And he used it to form the shaped of two small humanoids, then with his spit and sweat he gave life to them. From that day on, goblins walked the earth.

I ought to be good for Tuesday night.

HC, I might need to reconcile some of my backstory with your pantheon. I'll PM you if/when I need guidance.

Rathkor are you aware that your two-weapon fighter only has one power that uses a second weapon? If these are te powers you wanna stick to, that's cool, my bard is doing something similar at first level, I just wanna make sure you know.

for now, yes, only the one power. i am trying to round him out with some single target abilities as well, so i will still be useful in solos. i'm also taking advantage of some abilities that take advantage of my high dex. basically i'm going for a defender with some control elements. its a little odd, but i've run a character similar to this that worked pretty well.

Minor update, slightly altered Ability scores. Also, 2 of my powers utalize my 2 yeapons, one at will and to a lesser extent my encounter power.

Introducing your world!

Two large continents and two large islands. Eight nations with a variety of climates, riverlands, mountains, grasslands, deserts, artic wastelands and tropical paradises.

The nation of MUKI, furthest north of the civilized lands, with two large cities; Uradzaj and Vosie. It is a vast land of horses and grain.

To it's west is the nation of ZBOZZA, renowned for it's furious winds and blowing plains of wheat and corn. It has two large cities Fiermier and Avios,, the latter being a massive harbour city filled with secrets.

To the south is FORET a nation dominated by lush forests and a vast variety of wildlife. It's cities are Clairiere and Ete, renowned for their science and culture.

On they southern continent you will find the river nation of RIOS and it's twin cities of Vint and Avena. Rios is a nation of travellers and and wizards.

Splitting the southern continent in two is the great desert of COL, home the fabled city of Persolacquo, City of Lost Water in the common tongue. It is a land dominated by the mystery fey and at night said to from vampires from the sand itself.

A cousin to it's neighbours to the north is GRANO, a rich farming nation with a large commercial city in Cotone and the great mining city of Farina

Bounded by the great sailing straights are the island nations. LALAW is a tropical paradise with a mysterious mountain range filled with volcanoes and questions, it has one city Mansanas who make some of the finest ships that have ever sailed.

And central to all is the wealthy nation of KABISERA, home to the largest city in the world Kabi, the home of government for the world and the powerful merchant and sailing guilds. It has a strong religious city on it's northern shore that see proud temples from all faiths existing in a precarious harmony.

Where is the boat we are on at the beginning? If you can tell us, that is.
Excellent question. The party is travellling from Uradzaj in MUKI through the Straight of Fair Winds to the city of Cotone in GRANO.

Feel free to generate any reason to be on the boat (save senior naval personnel). The ship is a large cargo vessel but also has many spaces for travellers.

if you dont get Ritual Caster as a non-houseruled feat, do you get any free rituals, or do I have to pay for any I get?

If you already get the Ritual Caster feat for free as part of your class, you get 2 free rituals.

If you do not already get the Ritual Caster feat as part of your class, you gain it for free and may choose 2 first level rituals.

I hate to pass, but that's where I'm leaning. That week's just not good for 2 D&Ds. But like I was willing to go from Doom's game, I think it's good some new players will get a chance to join in. Maybe someone will record these.

Rituals I'm considering. Kevin? What think you?

Tenser's Floating Disk
Amanuensis
Secret Page
comprehend Language
Make Whole
Explorer's Fire
Silence

if the ritual requires a focus, do we get the focus for free as well, or do we have to pay for that?

Tenser's is fantastic. The rest are all fine - the deal with first level rituals is they all seem fairly tame, and if everyone in the party gets rituals, we're bound to overlap in picking them just because we wanna avoid the super useless ones.

That said, I already have Comprehend Language and Silence, so if there were others you wanted you might go with them instead. ;)

Looking over Errik's first level choices, I also had Magic Mouth and Animal Messenger.

You still have to pay for focuses. Your general knowledge of arcana and experience with it do to the over abundance of it in Aime are the reasons for your elevated expertise in Arcana, possesion of magic items and use of rituals.

ok, well of all the Rituals availible to level one characters, the only ones i can really see my character having is Purify Water and Make Whole. maybe Unseen Servant, but I can't afford the focus. so if there are no objections, i will take those two.

Excellent. Still need characters from Far and Jay. And we need to get MindDetective and Far their own versions of Jay's gametable.

I'm not a wizard with music and sound effects like Jay, so hopefully this song uploaded correctly as it will be played at least once if not more during the first session by those that you encounter.

My character is sorta complete but I'm holding out a bit more, I wanted to continue working on the character today. Let's say I was busy last night with my new gaming rig. :)

Usually we post a little something on the boards, just by way of character introduction, but don't feel as though you have to reveal everything.

Go back and read the first few pages of Jay's game's thread, if you're looking for examples.

Please feel free to share as much or as little as you choose with the other players. The more you share with me though, the more I will build into the game for you.

Now back to some concepts for you not covered in the other thread;

Encounters, Milestones and Action Points.

Encounters are typically short periods of time where you try to accomplish something, either in combat or out of combat. It typically has a goal to be accomplished set out by the DM and you either succeed or fail, but the DM always tells you when you have begun one, because ENCOUNTER is an official word in the game design.

Milestones are meant to represent when you have achieved something significant, again MILESTONE is an official term and I will tell the party when they have achieved one. It has several effects in game, as several things are keyed to it's occurrence. On of those is the gaining of an ACTION POINT.

Action Points are used to "buy" an action. You may only use 1 action point per encounter and you can use it gain another action, typically on your turn, and typically everyone uses them to get another standard action on their turn. Action Points are typically used to combine 2 or more actions in a single turn into a devastating effect.

Milestones I wasn't sure on, but the rest I've got down. Am I going to be the only human in the party? Also, are people connecting backstories in any way? Not sure how I would tie a monk into anyone else's story but I'm open to ideas.

Honestly the hardest part of my backstory will be coming up with a reason for me to have left home, ended up on the other side of the world, and boarded a boat back to my home continent while gaining 0 experience.

Gathering the effects of a deceased family member? Trying to immigrate and being turned away? Seeking out a long-lost or run-away relative and finding nothing? Dropping out of bard school? :)

I needed a reason to have left the monastery. I think it will be a delivery of elaborate, hand-copied religious texts to missionaries or benefactors of the monastery. Still working it out, though, and maybe it will change if my backstory is to intertwine with someone else's.

Could be a bit of a blend, then. Ran away, then got word that a close relative died/was ill and it changed your mind? Could also be the reason you ran away wasn't as expected or disappointing (or non-existant?) and with nowhere else to go, returning home. Could be returning home because your escorting someone (the only gig you could get) and so are grudgingly returning. I guess you could have been caught and are being dragged back home by your ear!
Added at: 12:32
Or you could have been forcibly deported, maybe even while unconscious, by rivals/racists/music-haters and now you're on a boat that you can't get off of until you arrive home.
