Bin laden is dead!

You know, I can't even see this as a good thing. I am honestly scared to see what happens next. I highly doubt this man has no successor. His followers remind me of the kind of people who drink laced Kool-aid because God wants them to do it. I don't think they are going to lay down and just take it. I am afraid for my family and friends who serve this country. You won't catch me celebrating, flag waving, or being rah-rah USA. In my mind, this is just the beginning.
You're quite possibly right, unfortunately, but for now, I'm glad this part is done.

There's a fine line between gleefully wishing death on people and grimly agreeing that there is a small percentage of people in this world who do exactly 0% good and consciously try to do harm. It's sad that every harmful person can't be saved, but it's a part of life. I'm not dancing around my house right now, but I'm not sad to see him go. Like Wasabi, I'm a little worried about what comes next, too.

I honestly think that is the proper way to view this. While I'm glad he's dead, I know this is not nearly the end of it.

I agree to an extent. There will be retaliations, but they will be lessened as the time passes. Our presence in the Arab countries will lessen. Our involvement in those countries will lessen. It is the beginning of the end.
I wish I could see it that way. I really do. I guess 9 years of deployments and such have taken my optimism.

Why do people think that those with different opinions have those opinions ONLY to be contrary?
I don't think you're being contrary, but certainly your initial comment about this being the only time that America will care about a brown person dying comes off as elitist and arrogant... And shines an unkind light upon anything else you say. I mean, that was kind of a stupid thing to say, mate.

It'll be interesting to see what excuse Pakistan comes up with for supposedly not knowing that Bin laden was in the middle of their country for most of this time.
Who? OH!! Osama bin LA-den. Ohhhhhh. We thought you said Osama Bin BA-den. Yeah. Bin Laden lives on first street. We can drop you off if you like,

The local Fox affiliate only accidentally said Obama bin Laden twice and had it in the scroll at the bottom of the screen. Poor dopes.

Hey, they probably just assumed that he was hiding here, pretending to be a rich Palm Springs retiree named Artie Rosenthal...

Charlie, I respect the fact that you and I are probably never going to see eye to eye on a single subject, and I'm okay with that. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, no matter how morally reprehensible I may believe it to be...

but you could fuck up a wet dream, I just want to let you know that.

I'm sorry, but it had to be said.

In other news, it's about time. While there may be repercussions, one cannot deny that a major blow to the face of terrorism in general, and Al-Qaeda specifically has been delivered.

My concern is more with Pakistan's response. They've already been rather testy with us, of late...

Heh, I heard someone say that the only way this could be sweeter was if the guy who actually got him was gay.

On top of that image let me say this as a Canadian to you my fellow Americans.

I really hope that this Bin Laden killing doesn't turn into partisan bickering. It's a great day for ALL Americans (and their allies) as well as and all the victims of Al Qaeda. It doesn't matter if you're a Republican or a Democrat... Christian or Muslim whatever the hell your party/religion/(sexual orientation?) is. Yes, at this point this news might be largely symbolic but it's still a huge story and a great achievement no matter what party you're affiliated with, who you vote for, who you pray to. The world's a better place today.

If you can't accept that, there's a little red x on the top right of the screen, don't poop on other people's happiness because you cannot feel the same way. Have some respect of taking your ball and going home.

The video of everyone celebrating and waving flags in the streets outside the White House reminds me of 9/11 when we saw the video of people celebrating in Middle Eastern streets.

geez, I'm sorry I ruined your jerkoff session about someone dying.
The funny thing is, you just don't get it. Wait, not funny. Sad.

That's because you're dense. They were celebrating the deaths of thousands of people. We're celebrating the justice served to those who died and what this means to ending the war effort. Big difference kiddo.
