Seven in a row, and swept at home by the fucking Cubs 'cause Hurdle won't use Hanrahan in the 8th. What do you WANT me to say?

Jerry Meals can still bite my shiny metal ass.

Dear Giants,
You can only rely so long on the D-Backs sucking as much as you do to stay ahead in the NL West. So please carefully remove your heads from your asses and FUCKINGSTARTHITTINGANDSCORINGRUNS!!!!

I want to blame Huff for massively underperforming. Or Torres for the same thing. Or Schierholtz for going cold. Or Beltran for dogging it once he got to SF. Or the catching duo that wouldn't even be good if they could combine into one player. Or Cody Ross for reverting back to his old self. Or Zito for, well, being Zito. Or Muellens for being one of the most ineffective hitting coaches in the history of the league.

But with all those different things to blame, I suddenly can't decide who is at fault. I just know that the pitching is in a slump while the offense found a new low that no one thought was possible. It doesn't really matter who to blame. They just need to get their shit together. I would think a closed-door team meeting in order, involving a whole lot of yelling. Because they all deserve it. Every last one of them.

...

Except Panda. He's awesome.

DA, I'm sorry, I can't see you very well in my rear view mirror. Besides, that Phat Albert guy is blocking my view of you as well.

Difference between now and 1982:

In 1982, Rollie Fingers went down with an injury that essentially signaled the end of his career, and the Crew did not have anyone that could step in to take his place (though Pete Ladd did an admirable job of it).

In 2011, we have TWO FREAKING CLOSERS. If Axford ever choked, we could just switch to K-Rod. It's like having Mariano Rivera AND John Wetteland.

Difference between 2010 and 2011...

Not a damn thing. Pirates still can't win at Miller Park. 2-(a much larger number than 2) since the place opened.

Actually, it's only been since '05 that the Crew have pwned the Pi-rates. MKE is 41-8 in that time frame against the Buccos since then. Right now, it's the Brewers up 56-27 all time at Miller Park - and 19 of those 27 wins were when the Brewers didn't have Fielder/Weeks/Braun/Hart etc.

It's been since July 4, 1999. One of the darkest days in Pirates history, and one of the most gruesome injuries in sports history. Theismann gruesome.

Oh.

You know, I'd completely forgotten about that. Of course, I kinda knew that Kendall had been a former Pirate when he played for us a few years ago, but I really didn't think that was when the tide had turned.

The Brewers went into a nose-dive a few weeks later when Big Blue collapsed. We really didn't recover until 2005 and the 81-81 season.

That was when the tide turned completely in Pittsburgh. If Kendall hadn't exploded his ankle, the streak might not have reached legendarily bad proportions.

OTOH, the Pirates have signed both their 1st and 2nd round draft picks from this year. Josh Bell was fully expected to be headed to the University of Texas instead. One can only hope they'll open their wallets for free agents in a similar fashion.

Look, the real sign you guys had hit rock bottom was when you decided to sign a couple of Indian-born bowlers and tried to teach them how to throw a baseball.

Giants are in a heated race for the NL West. So guess what? EVERYBODY decides to get hurt at the same time, of course!

If the G-men miss the playoffs, everyone and their brother will point to Posey's injury as the reason anyways. So don't worry about it.

It does suck that Carlos Beltran is already out with an injury, right after you signed him.

As for the Yankees.... 0.5 game lead in the AL East, and the potential to win 100 games this season. Jeter is at 3,041 hits, #22 all time, 12 away from Carew and 14 away from Rickey Henderson, in 20th all time. He is on pace to finish near 18th - I doubt he'll crack 3110 this season. Mariano Riviera is at 591 Saves, 11 away from the all time record.

Yay Giants, you avoided being swept by the worst team in baseball.
FUUUUUUUCK. I was thinking the same thing. Between injuries and this ridiculous slump I'm afraid to watch games these days. Thank god the Braves swept the DBacks. I can't believe the Giants are only 1.5 out after that road trip.

My predictions (fairly obvious) for the postseason:

AL East: Yankees by 1 game
AL Wild Card: Red Sox
AL Central: Tigers
AL West: Rangers

NL East: Phillies (duh)
NL Wild Card: Braves
NL Central: Brewers (bigger duh)
NL West: Diamondbacks

Yankees v Tigers, Yankees beat Tigers 3 games to 2
Red Sox v Rangers, Red Sox beat Rangers 3 games to 1

ALCS: Yankees v Red Sox - this one is too close to call. The Yanks have not done well against the Red Sox all year, though Boston has been looking vulnerable towards the end of this month.

Phillies v Brewers, Phillies win 3 games to 2
Braves vs Diamondbacks, Braves win 3 games to 2.

NLCS: Phillies v Braves, Phillies win 4 games to 2.

World Series: Phillies v Yankees or Red Sox, the series will probably go 7 games either way.

Off-Season: Jorge Posada should probably hang it up, and Mariano Riveira should figure that 2012 will be his last season. Something should be done about Burnett, but the Yankees are contractually locked up in him. He'll show moderate improvement in the early part of 2012, then have a disastrous second half, AS USUAL.

Bronx Bombers lived up to their name and set a Major League first: 3 grand slams in a single game. Defeated the A's 22-9.
