Well I don't want to be entirely a pacifist, so I might just ignore the achievement, but I am not the type of person that will kill everyone in a room if I can help it.

One thing of note that is kind of odd, but do you notice that taking the non-lethal approach is often way more rewarding? A non-lethal takedown is not only more silent, but also gives more XP towards Praxis Points. Seems like a no-brainer that you would do the non-lethal takedown. If you really want the person dead you can just shoot them in the head after they are knocked out.

Although I never even installed any silencers... I want them to know I'm coming.
One of my favorite moves is to open a door while a guy is looking at it, then hug the wall. They walk through the door to check out why it opened and you do a takedown on them as they pass. I liked it because it was a realistic way to get the jump on people.

It's important to note that I don't indiscriminately kill everyone in this game. Actually... the takedown mechanic comes in super handy for me when the police get involved in one of my shoot outs and I don't want them killed.

Scythe... I've done that door trick too... works like a charm.

I also enjoy leaving a body right in the middle of a patrol route just to see the alarm it raises (and the amusing dialogs).

One thing I wish I had was a way to distract guards, like throw something to make them look a direction, or even use it to lure a guard to a spot I want him to go so that I can sneak up behind him without his friends. I would fire a gun, but that just makes all of them look for me. I want something more like the door trick in that, usually, only the guard that sees it and not all his buddies go to check it out.

I mean really, it can be anything, some rocks, a soda can, maybe throw some spare ammo. Maybe I can hope for an update someday.

Keep your eye out for boxes. Throw them wisely.
Ah you can do that? I may have to look for the command. Everything I pick up was just for moving and dropping, and the tutorial didn't mention anything about throwing. I will give it a check but I guess it's a different button then the interact button (E).

If you have the silenced pistol at least, you can fire a shot and the NPCs will investigate where the bullet impacted, not where it was fired from.

Nice, that may be a better option then. Just have to get a silencer.

I think once I was able to do double takedowns I didn't shoot anymore (tranq darts) unless it was for boss battles.

This is such a fantastic game.

The ending music? Goosebumps... Goodbumps.

Maybe... maybe it was the ending I choose...

Maybe it was what I saw....

Maybe I regretted that such a great game ended.

Kudos Eidos Montreal. Kudos.

Merci pour votre bon travail.

Thank you finally for money well spent.

The biggest problem with being sneaky is that if you go that way the boss fights will be brutal, regardless of what Jay says. That first boss fight was a motherfucker for me because my build was sneaky/hacky.

The second boss fight was even worse. She sneaked just as well as me.
I killed both in non-lethal ways... Just kept shooting them with the stun gun until they fell. I think the first one took something like 19 shots though.

If you have the Cloak ability, even LVL 1 it changes everything. Without it, it will be harder.

I killed all bossed with my tranq gun on hard setting.

I didn't find it hard at all, then again I had the Cloak ability.

Heh, when choosing the difficulty setting, how could I choose anything else but "Give me Deus Ex", those bastards know how to make me suffer.

Yeah. bosses 2-whatever AFTER I got the cloak were simple affairs, the first dude when I had no combat or stealth skills was a fuuuuucking nightmare.

I didn't use the cloak mod in my stealthy run. Being only able to charge the first battery and only 7 seconds of use at max level per battery meant I'd have to be crunching a lot of energy bars to get what I wanted out of it. I relied on my 10mm silenced and sniper rifle to get things done.

I didn't think it was so hard as long as you
threw threw the yellow gas canister at him to your right to stun him and then use the red to blast him. Rinse repeat. I also started the fight by chucking a frag grenade at him before taking cover. Of course, if you're going for non-lethal, I guess it would be a bit harder.

For the second boss I
used the stun gun and unloaded on her with the heavy rifle
and for the third boss I
used the laser rifle to shoot through the window without getting hit

Cloak mod made you able to move places very nicely. 7 seconds to place myself anywhere I want? Yes plz.

I always run out of juice and can't do it again. The battery thing in this game is dumb as fuck. You can have 5 batteries but resting only refills 1?!? Dumb, dumb, dumb.

yeah it's dumb but if you could refill all 5 automatically, i would just have kept cloak on forever past Detroit.

Or at least allow an additional cell to charge for every praxis point you spend in gaining additional cells. 3 cells=1 charge 4=2, 5=3. That wouldn't have been too terrible.

When I decide to play through a second time, I plan to hold out for a mod that makes the regeneration happen to all power cells. You know it will happen sooner or later.

Just got to China, I played the FEMA Compound a bit more lethal then the Sarif Warehouse, justifying it that they were enemy soldiers and murderers rather then just out of touch gangbangers or protesters. I still did non-lethal takedowns if I could sneak up on them though, but if they spotted me I was not going to shy from popping them in the head with my revolver or sniper rifle. The boss was somewhat of a pain in the rear but I just kept wearing him down by running in a massive circle, shooting him with every weapon I had.

Actually, the most annoying mission I had was due to my own moral compass getting in my way. I could have skipped a really annoying section if I just silencer shot a guy in the head, but I couldn't bring myself to assassinate a guy so coldly. I felt bad when, to progress in one quest, I had to snap a gangbangers neck while breaking through a wall, but I just realized I would have to get over it otherwise I was just going to drag the game out.

As much as the battery mechanic annoys the hell out of me... unlimited regeneration of the full battery will make the game a joke due to the cloaking.

It seems from other people's experiences that the game is already too easy using cloaking/stealth devices even with the current battery scheme.

Hell... I fight everything head on and the game is too easy.

The original didn't have recharging energy at all. If you wanted to use your augs, you either ate a power cell, or you went without.

Our you refilled at the same bots that you used to install augs

I'm kinda puzzled as to why they didn't make the single rechargeable battery the one that gets used first. That would seem to encourage the use of powers in short bursts, while still paying a price for more spectacular displays.

I don't get your phrasing, how is that any different than the system in HR?

Maybe I misread what others have said about the battery system. I should have made it clear I haven't played HR.

Jay said
- Don't like the battery system. Only the last battery recharges thus this means if you use consumables to get the other battery charges, any ability you use will burn the non-rechargable ones first then your "last hope", this should have been done different such as to burn the rechargable one first then dip into your ressources. Basically this means I'm not using my abilities/fun mechanics as much as I can.
I took that to mean that if you have non-rechargeable batteries, those have to be used up before the rechargeable battery gets used. I agreed with Jay, if I were making the system, I would have the rechargeable get used first.

Most of the time, I felt the extra batteries were pretty useless. I never bothered with more than 3 and would have stayed at 2 if I didn't have Praxis points coming out of my ears.

Nope. Basically, the rightmost battery you have (that is, the one currently being used) is the only one that regenerates. So partial uses of a battery are covered by the recharge, but if you use all of it, it'll only be able to refill the next one (which is already full, or close to).

That way, abilities that cost 1 bar or more still have a real cost, but short bursts of low-cost abilities are covered.

Just finished it.

Last boss was stupid easy because I had the Laser Rifle, which just went right through her shield. Overall though the last mission area was a pain in the ass once they unlocked the defense doors, because most of the crazies don't have easy to navigate patterns. I was lucky most just stood near a wall, and the few times I did get some on me, my Revolver made short work of them.

Speaking of the Revolver, I love that gun. It does not have a lot of ammo so you have to conserve a bit, but after you find the Explosive Shot upgrade its so amazing when taking out groups. I used the Revolver as my clearer, Combat Rifle as my main firefight weapon, and Pistol for popping people quickly after taking down one other guy, then had Laser Rifle with I decided to save in case I felt I needed to get through walls.

I gave up on pacifist, just didn't have the patience by that point.

My only issue was the ending felt a little abrupt and cryptic, I kind of wanted to see a little bit of what my choice did to the world, rather then just a montage of real world footage. I didn't even get a final heartwarming message Frank, and I was so waiting for one.

Still, it was a great game.
