[Gaming] Elder Scrolls 5 - Dawnguard is HERE!

People actually use those followers? I never even touched them to be honest, due to my sneak and shoot playstyle. Anytime I was forced to bring one along, they would invariably run ahead, reveal my position, and make my shoots impossible.

Are there companions that spellcast?
As a Melee guy I really would like to have a spellcaster companion.Even if they are stupid as fuck.

The woman at the Shrine of Azura will join you if you complete the quest and return the Star of Azura to her. She's a spell caster.

Also, the dark elf girl at the college of Winterhold, after you help her practice her magic. Though when I had her she was obnoxious about getting her flame atronach in my way all the time.

J'zargo also follows after you finish his quest.

There's a woman at Darklight Tower who will join you once you finish her quest. During the quest, she was taking out everything--I was barely necessary except for one short detour.

I'm with Ash and Bowielee--companions get in my way and since I'm playing for stealth, that completely fucks me up. I don't need someone running into a room to alert the guys when I'm trying to pick them off one by one instead of getting into a head-on fight.

Though if I do get into a brawl, I will use the Ritual Stone power to raise their dead to fight each other and save my bacon. Temporary companions are the best.

Honestly, I only found one stone worth using: The Lovers. That +15% bonus to skill gains is simply too good to pass up while your crafting.

I'm still pretty low level, so I'm keeping the theif's stone for now. it increases the rate at which my sneak skill increases.

My pickpocket skill has raised by 1 since I started. I really want to get it high enough to get that extra pockets perk (carrying capacity +100), but I'm just not successful often enough and I end up losing more than I gain when the guards come after me.

I think the only really good way to improve that skill is to sneak into people's houses when their sleeping. Preferably the little farm houses that don't have guards around them.

So I have to be a total dick.

Oh well, it doesn't exactly deviate from my character. Not like she's murdering them or anything.

What Stat do you take when you level up? Stamina from leveling(though not items or potions) gives you 5 carry capacity per point spent, granted I am a twohander man so that also means tons of extra power attacks to enemy face.

Also for info on companions Lydia seems to REALLY like dual wield staves, I keep giving her the best shields and melee weapons I find that I do not need but every time I give her staves to hold to lighten my burden goes all berserk flamethrowing/ice sharding people down with them.

The Steed stone is the only stone, the ONLY stone.

100 extra pounds of carry and no speed reduction for armor. I'm in.

The steed is located northwest of Solitude and near the shrine of Meridia at the top of a mountain.

Also, it makes any armor you are wearing not count towards carry capacity. The Steed is too good.

Hey some stuff I found experimenting.

I play on the PC and ofund the mouse movement WAY to slow so I found the real way to edit it outside the game settings.

Open your SkyrimPrefs.ini file

Scroll down to [Controls]

Change the following line:
fMouseHeadingSensitivity=
from the default value listed to 0.15000

then add the following two lines after it

fMouseHeadingXScale = 0.1500
fMouseHeadingYScale = 0.1500

Net result is a speedier ability to look around and the mouse doesnt lag behind as much.

Also neat thing discovered.

If you have your enchanting skill high enough to get a 25% magika reduction when using a greater soul gem and the fortify(school) enchantment you can make 4 pieces all with the same school fortified to stack your reduction to 100%

Yeah, means nothing to me. I travel light. Robes, potions the end. Any loot I pick up I promptly sell after ever excursion and anything I mean to keep I deposit in my Whiterun home.

I can't count how many times I ended up with a stack of dragon stuff because I would randomly kill 3 dragons on my way somewhere.

And Dwemer ruins are a looters weight nightmare. All that stuff that can be turned into ingots and can make you quadrillions of gold.

WEIGHT! Steed rules, the rest are blah.

I didn't realize you could melt down the stuff into ingots.

I feel stupid for having sold a bunch of it now.

And I will have this Steed Stone. Now if I could just find a good source of Moonstone.

Fuck ya for the steed stone! I keep saying I'm going to go for the lovers eventually but I can't bring myself to lose the extra carrying capacity.

So it does the exact same thing as some of the perks in the Heavy and Light Armor trees?
Also, +100 pounds carry weight. Those perks are pretty deep in those trees, you won't have them in the beginning of the game when steed will help you carry all you can carry to get a leg up gold wise.

In the end game, your going to be wearing about 100 pounds of armor, or at least you will if you take Heavy Armor. Not having it weigh you down would be the equivalent of this stone.

Steed's probably great in the early-mid game. I just don't need ANY of it's effects now that I can enchant +Carry Capacity to my boots and gloves, as well as have the No Weight perk in Heavy Armor.

Still, these seem to be the best stones to pick, except for maybe the Serpent.

Sometimes you just get tired of your follower...

I love fighting on cliffs and pinnacles. Just force shout your enemy off the precipice.

From what I understand Ash, it'd negate the 100 pounds of Heavy Armor PLUS an extra 100 pounds for carrying.
Probably, but I've never needed more than 400 carry capacity. I can already meet that with with my enchants and Stam increases. As i said before, The Steed is probably more valuable if you don't have other means to increase your carry.

I think I just never have the weight issues because I only pick up the light weight stuff (less than 10 pounds) and then enchant it to make up the difference. As it is, I have more trouble with vendors not having enough gold for me than I do with not being able to carry enough stuff. For instance, I can enchant a 10 gold Iron dagger into a 250 gold one by just adding Absorb Health to it, then tossing on a Petty Soul. I've had to resort to waiting 25 hours in the Ragged Flagon to get the fence to restock her gold supply because it's faster than running around to 6 different vendors to get the money. That's when I actually care about getting more gold, as I'm already in the 40K range and have nothing to spend it on except houses.

Like I said, The Lovers is what I need for my play style. Trying to hit Level 50 so I can start another character, but I've already maxed most of the skills I use regularly. Going to need to start using magic or something to get the last 4 levels.

I am not embarrassed to open all the cleared dungeons, to clear and ride my horse back to sell. Really, just buy a horse with your first 1k. Then load down and ride back to town to sell.

For some reason, I feel disenchanted with places when riding a horse, but I suppose for just heading out to a dungeon in an area you've already explored, it's okay for loading it up. I just like walking, alone, for exploring Skyrim.
