It's not a point I feel needs too much arguing against, so I won't further. It just got my attention. Considering there's a shitty remake trouncing the memory out, I'll concede the need for Clash of the Titans on the list.
I really understand your point about the film's pacing and whether or not it's one of the greatest movies of all time, however, I think if something is referenced often in pop culture, it's something that should be watched at least one if you want to become one with the overmind

Really? Maybe it's because I'm a huge Vincent Price fan, but I'd go with the original over Goldblum's version.
The second was fantastic, but I'm going to agree, the only "must" watch is the first one.

Okay, I think I've put all the movies suggested on the list, along with a few of my own. If I've missed any, lemme know.
Also, I'm NOT going to start re-categorizing the movies because of the debate over Animation. It's there, I'm certain you can live with it. And feel free to mention more comedies if you feel like it, I'll just snap more slots from some other category.

Looks like comedy might need some paring down (I was joking with Bloodsport as a comedy, although it is hilarious. Really it belongs in action, if at all). Romancing the Stone seems better suited in Adventure, and Gremlins 2 probably doesn't need to be there at all. Also, Dick? A must see? (genuinely curious here; never saw it, seems like a trifle)

Crime: Goodfellas, Godfather Part II (Normally I would shy away from Sequels, but this movie is as good if not better than the original).
