Slightly off topic here, But I've had a stressful day and was thinking about having a drink. That video @lien posted, coupled with the bottle of whiskey that somehow appeared on my booze shelf can mean only 1 thing....The universe wants me to get drunk and listen to bluesy music. Look forward to my next post in the drunk and wasted thread in a few hours....

Erm... yes, the universe totally placed that bottle there and there's no reason to worry about the sound of someone typing coming from inside your closet right now...

everyone loves Tom Waits

also, ugghghghghghhg all meaningful art does not come from discontent. Again, just like in the other thread, it's really disingenuous to presume where everyone's main muse comes from. There are plenty of people who have made Classics by not being some tortured soul. Some people actually actively ENJOY creating. I don't sit around going, ARRRGH KNIVES IN MY HEART MUST WRITE POEMS. Sometimes I go, Hey, I Want To Write Something.
REGARDLESS, there is a thread for that, and this thread is for me and BananaHands to praise or shit on your tastes. Pray us continue.

need some cookies in there? You bring me jameson's I will treat you well.
Also..pop culture... Last CD I bought was Hypnotize by SOAD. Judge away bannajuice!

'60s glasses. Fedora. Pretentiously good headphones. Steely Dan mocking the world on the iPhone.

Sigh. I'm a hipster. But it's also going on 1am in an empty hotel lobby. How can I be a hipster if there's no one else to be a hipster at?
A fedora doesn't make you a hipster, it makes you a neckbeard

You're the one who stole their gear, aren't you? AREN'T YOU?

By the by, are you pairing those Grados' with a portable amp? If you care that much about sound, it might be worth looking into. I've heard some good things about this one, and it won't break the bank.

If you must know, I always considered the last seasons of Battlestar Galactica to be wholly pretentious bullcrap trying to say something deep and meaningful and existentialist. I mean, what the fuck was with Starbuck angel or the song that just so happens to have the coordinates for a planet that just so happens to be suitable for the Colonists after the battlestar was basically reduced to pieces of ablative shielding held together by chewing gum?

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the action, the issues of surviving in space and the quasi-ethnic atmosphere of the fleet, but whenever those goddamn sexbots started spinning a yarn about God I basically tuned out.

There comes a point where a show's characters can't develop any more and become stagnant. Then the writers come up with craaaazier methods of keeping people interested. Happened to Michael Scott. Happened to Starbuck. Happened to Liz Lemon. Is currently happening to Phil Dunphy.

Four seasons, man. After that you're just going to get writers (most of which aren't the originals) just sticking to the same formula.

yeah well, only because they got there first.

I fucking love tom waits and sigur ross.

True story, the first mix cd I made for my wife was sigur ross and tom waits. She told me she took apart her cd player and put it back together again because she thought it was broken but then realized it was only because of my horrible taste in music.

What can I say, she likes Abba, I like Goglo Bordello (and Abba)
Gogol Bordello.

And again, B, The Simpsons had 8 and a half seasons worth of poignant, moving, delicious comedy gold.

Oh, and one more. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia continues to be one of the funniest shows ever to grace TV well into it's seventh season.

I can't believe they cast her as the fairest anything. it is fair as in pretty not fair as in pale. .. at least that is what i always thought.

I read this thread, saw about Community is barely hanging on, and got mad all over again that Better Off Ted got canceled. Damn it.

Oh, and is this the thread where people rag on what other people like? 'Cause someone forgot to invite me.

Kristen Stewart was the protagonist in Lifetime movie version of the book Speak, which was great because the whole time I read that book I just had Kristen Stewart in my head.

Better off Ted was pretty decent, but I doubt it would have gone anywhere after those two seasons. The second season was already really shaky. But you know what deserved a fourth season? VERONICA FUCKING MARS

I did dig that show, but that new theme song was hard to get by. I mean, the old one wasn't great, but it didn't cause me to wish I was born deaf.
