Tattoos are a case by case basis. I've seen some people with a single tattoo that I thought looked incredibly stupid, and I've seen some women with full sleeves our extensive body tattoos that I thought looked hot as hell.

As to the original story: should she have gotten a tattoo from the guy she was cheating on? No. Is what he did worse? I think so. They're both in the wrong.

Not a fan of tattoos, but I do appreciate the artwork put into many of them.

I would never get a tattoo anyway. I am just tired of people using the term because it sounds stupid. The implication that getting a tattoo in a certain location somehow makes someone automatically trampy is just dumb. It's like the ankle tattoos from the 90s... ooo scandalous. It's just nonsense. And when I see culture embracing that kind of nonsense I generally dislike it.

I am not a tramp but if I got a tattoo there people would still call it a tramp stamp. That is stupid. If a tramp got a tattoo on her shoulder it would be a tramp stamp because she is the tramp.

I am saying that it does not make them trampy that is why saying the words "tramp stamp" as if it did make them trampy is stupid.

Tramp stamps aren't a overall term for women wearing tattoos, they're for a particular type of "above the ass" tattoo and yeah, that's always going to be a tramp stamp.

No, if a tramp got a tattoo on her shoulder it would be a shoulder tattoo. The "Tramp Stamp" is a tattoo in a very specific location.

Furthermore, semantics aside, your attempt to deny the link between the upper-butt tattoo and a tendency toward promiscuity is doomed to failure. Might I also suggest you not put a red light out in front of your door as well? Because that, too, has an understood meaning.

Not every lower back tattoo is a tramp stamp. It just happens that many of them are.

Well, I'll forever call it a lower back tattoo. the tramps can be tramps and the non tramps can be non tramps and the placing of their tattoos can remain irrelevant.

The thing is, when someone says "tramp stamp," you immediately know what they mean - a tattoo at the small of the back, just above the ass but where it can be easily seen in low-riders if one's not wearing a long shirt. Unfortunate implications or not, when a term has that immediate and definite a meaning, it's going to linger.

To me tramp stamps are a specific kind of tattoo. One placed on the lower back, seen above the top of jeans, with 2 or more of the following:
Tribalesque design (usually extending form 1/2 to 3/4 of the width of dat ass)
Butterflys
Dolphins
Stars
Some corny empowering phrase
Japanese Kanji

These are the reqirments for a tramp stamp. All others are simply lower back tattoo's.

Tattooing, like most other arts, can be done quickly and "good enough" or slowly and great. Very good tattoo artists can produce excellent tattoos in limited time, while poor artists can spend hours over many sessions and still get poor results.

It's a one color tattoo with very basic shading. We don't have high quality close-up pictures but I suspect it's a very basic, fast technique that doesn't have a lot of fine definition.

Even so, she started out wanting a full back tattoo, so even if it did take several hours it wouldn't necessarily be suspect. He'd have to be careful if it was a multi-session thing - tell her this was just the background and leave enough of it incomplete after each session that it would be hard to tell what it is.

But I suspect this is something a competent tattoo artist could do in an hour or so.

Good lord. He could have just taken an actual shit on something of hers instead. Not as permanent, but that way he doesn't have to tarnish his reputation as a professional in order to get revenge. She sucks for cheating, that's for sure, and I can't blame him for wanting to hurt her in some way. But jeez.
